Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth defended the Pentagon’s $200 billion funding request, which was sent to the White House for the ongoing war against Iran, saying it “takes money to kill bad guys.”
“I think that number could move. Obviously, it takes money to kill bad guys,” Hegseth told reporters during a Thursday morning briefing at the Pentagon.
“So we’re going back to Congress and our folks there to ensure that we’re properly funded for what’s been done, for what we may have to do in the future, ensure that our ammunition ––everything’s refilled, and not just refilled, but above and beyond,” Hegseth said when asked about the request from the Pentagon, which was first reported by The Washington Post.
$200bn is a lot of money. But really, it benefits a lot of people.
ReplyDeleteThe companies that make the weapons and munitions benefit. That means people they employ and the stockholders in the companies benefit.
The military benefits because this "excursion" as President Ttump puts it is also a training exercise.
The North Koreans get the message that they might be next if they try anything funny. That's worth $50bn right there.
And President Trump benefits. He'll probably wind things down by the end of the summer and his victory lap will be to drum up support for the Republicans in the mid-terms. The economy benefits, too. It will be booming with oil prices dropping and a new confidence in world trade.
The Iranians benefit, too. They can focus on something other than regional domination.
That's almost the same amount that Obama paid to the bad guys
ReplyDeleteObama did not pay the bad guys
DeleteGarnel ...?
DeleteAt no point did Obama fly to Iran with a large briefcase with $150 billion in it in unmarked notes and hand it over to Khameini. Instead he did the banking equivalent of leaving it on a street corner while sending Iran the directions to it.
DeleteHe sent $400M cash by plane .

ReplyDeleteIt was Iran's money. Trump wants American taxpayers money
DeleteIran under the Shah
DeleteIt was a deposit for weapons.
Would you be ok if Obama had supplied weapons to them instead?
There's a Mishna that says you don't sell weapons to rashaim, because it strengthens the hand of reshaim.
DeleteSo Obama essentially did this they spent the money on missiles and uranium enrichment.
