To be fair, no one really expected WWI to break out Historians agree the war only broke out cause the nations involved were itching for war. (The assassination of Crown Prince was the technical reason, not the "diplomatic" reason Don't forget, it was only a Morganic Prince, perhaps thst was another reason, there was a problem with succession.
WW1 was unexpected because no one thought that the alliances would topple like dominoes and draw in all the European powers. But to think that all of European history rotated around a yeshiva? Really?
