House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said he supports replacing Cheney with New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, who has a more moderate voting record but is a staunch Trump supporter.
This is certainly not a good situation but here's the counter-point: party discipline and a consistent message are crucial to convincing voters to choose you. A party where people snipe at its last President and openly defy the current leadership leads to the appearance of a fractious party unable to control its members.
ReplyDeleteLook at the Dem's - everyone knows Biden's demented and that his handlers are actually running the country. Many of them are still Bernie boosters and Warren supporters. Members of Congress are attacking Israel's right to defend itself. You don't hear anyone criticizing them. They maintain discipline. That's what counts.
You realize that by that standard of party discipline and member control that Trump was a horrible leader, right? By all firsthand accounts, the internal workings of his White House were a mess and most fractious.

LOL, so long Liz. 74 million people voted for and supported Trump, 0 people voted for a NeverTrump republican. Downballot Republicans had strong results and gained seats, while all the elections without Trump on the ballot have been weak for Republicans. It's not rocket science to figure out that NeverTrumpism is a small niche interest-group and unpopular among the masses of Republicans.
ReplyDeleteMore people voted against Trump than for him. They successfully got rid of Cheney but it looks like a Pyrrhic victory and could mean the end of the Republican party.
