Dr. Deborah L. Birx, who has carefully straddled the line between science and politics as she helps lead the Trump administration’s coronavirus response, delivered a stark private warning on Monday, telling White House officials that the pandemic is entering a new and “deadly phase” that demands a more aggressive approach.
The warning — sent in a private memo to White House officials as the nation — amounted to a direct contradiction of President Trump’s repeated false assertions that the pandemic is “rounding the corner.” In it, Dr. Birx suggested Mr. Trump and his advisers were spending too much time focusing on lockdowns, and not enough on controlling the virus.
Trump does have a strategy, although it'll be costly.
ReplyDeleteIf all works out, America will be the first country to have mass immunizations, ending the pandemic as a serious threat. While the rest of the world runs to catch up, America will fully reopen. Again, it'll be costly but 10 years from now it might prove to have been the most effective response.

this is a bit like a horse race - you are claiming your horse will win - but nothing is clear, which vaccine will be approve, when , etc and hwo effective it will be.

ReplyDeleteThe Israeli vaccine is way behind the major contenders. They just started phase 3 trials now so it's at least 8-10 months away. The Chinese one probably has active virus in it to ensure this plague keeps going.
Word on the medical street is that the first inoculations will be for medical staff in February or March, then the elderly if we don't all die, then for everyone else by next winter.
