  1. You're right! Certain elements decided to begin blasting earsplitting music in the streets for a couple of hours on Tuesday afternoon in my neighborhood in what they term a simchas chag. Must everyone to suffer from the cacophony? Whoever wants it can sit in his living room with earphones.

  2. More on שמיני
“Now Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu each took וַיִּקְחוּ his fire pan מַחְתָּתוֹ , put fire אֵשׁ in it, and laid incenseקְטֹרֶת on it; and they offered וַיַּקְרִיבוּ before the Lord alien fire אֵשׁ זָרָה which He had not commanded לֹא צִוָּה them. And fire came forth וַתֵּצֵא אֵשׁ from the Lord and devoured וַתֹּאכַל them; thus they died before לִפְנֵי the Lord.” (Leviticus 10:1-2).
My theory. Moses and Aaron saw that Nadab and Abihu each took וַיִּקְחוּ his fire pan מַחְתָּתוֹ , put fire אֵשׁ in it, and laid incenseקְטֹרֶת on it. They promptly said to Nadab and Abihu: What is this you’re doing? You know that God commanded Moses on Mount Sinai: “and the Lord said to Moses, Go to the people and sanctify them וקדשתם today and tomorrow. And wash their וכבסו clothes. And be ready for the third day; for on the third day the Lord will come down, in the sight of all the people, on Mount Sinai. And you shall set bounds for the people round about, saying: Take heed to yourselves השמרו that you do not go up the mountain or touch the border of it. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death מות יומת. No hand shall touch him, but he shall be either stoned סקול יסקל or shot through ירה יירה ; beast or man, he shall not live לא יחיה. When the ram’s horn sounds a long blast במשל היבל, they shall go up המה יעלו to the mountain.” (Exodus 19:10-13).
Surely Moses and Aron tried to dissuade Nadab and Abihu not to: “and they offered וַיַּקְרִיבוּ before the Lord alien fire אֵשׁ זָרָה which He had not commanded לֹא צִוָּה them.”
    I quote the Zohar:
Soncino Zohar, Vayikra, Section 3, Page l06b
“R. Hizkiah cited the verse: No hand shall touch it, for he shall surely be stoned or shot through”, etc. (Ex. XIX, 13). Now if, he said, this was to be the penalty for touching a mere mountain like Sinai because the glory of the Holy King was revealed on it, what must happen to one who touches the King? And if this was to happen to one who touched the mountain, even respectfully, what must happen to one who touches the King insultingly? R. Jesse cited the verse: “And He said, Do not come closer. Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you stand is holy ground.” (Exodus 3:5). If’, he said, this could be said to Moses, from whom the holy halo never departed from the day that he was born, and who drew near in reverence and holiness, what would be said to one who draws near to the King insultingly?”
