“It is ok to criticize gedolim the state of Israel and even me but don’t think of criticizing the president?!” We read this week’s parsha ואתחנן: “There you will serve man-made gods of wood and stone, that cannot see or hear or eat or smell. But if you search there for the Lord your God, you will find Him, if only you seek Him with all your heart and soul” (Deuteronomy 4:28-29). Moses warns Jews about to enter Israel, they must keep Torah, if not, God will send them to America and other places [Exile] and there they will do repentance. We wait for American Jews to do repentance. Hertz Chumash p. 762: “Ye will seek the Lord. This is a great pronouncement of Scripture, proclaiming the omnipotence of תשובה, Repentance. But the sinner must seek God; i.e. he must feel the ‘loss’ of God, and take active measure to ‘find’ Him and regain His favor. And that search must be with the sinner’s whole heart and soul. Sincere repentance always and everywhere secures the Divine Mercy. It would be so in the Exile, if they sought God with a radical change of heart, and the devotion of the whole being. And indeed it was in the Exile that repentant Israel found God, rediscovered itself.” Yes, surely, it is ok to criticize gedolim the state of Israel. The question is it ok to criticize the POTUS? No. I agree 100% with Joseph Orlow. I see in ואתחנן that Moses warns the Jews about to enter Israel to keep the Torah. Yes, all sinners must do Repentance. I love Trump and Netanyahu. I hear on “man-made gods of wood and stone.” Stone refers to Islam with their famous stone in Mecca worshippers throw stones at. Wood refers to The Cross, the evil Romans nailed Jesus son of Mary to.
Rome is now infested by pigs, since they let a pig loose in the holy Beit haMikdash. POTUS, Scotus, hocus pocus. Hocus pocus was forbidden by rambam, but the Netziv claims we are now permitted to, since we no longer have neviim. The Torah says do not respect a man in judgement, i.e. whether great or small. We have to take that attiitude also to Trump. However, trump disatanced himself from Epstein when he saw what a sleazbag he was, whereas Clinton did not.
"It is ok to criticize gedolim"- Rabbi Adin Steinsalts was once giving a talk in a MO shul I went to, and he said "we (rabbonim) want to see more women's underwear". Of you course you would, dirty perverts.
It is certainly not forbidden to criticize the POTUS. Certainly he provided new reasons daily. The problem is that 95% of this blog's posts are criticism of the POTUS. It's gone beyond repetitive into obsessive.
Rav elyakim schelesinger of stanford hill london has a whole chapter on his rebbe the chazon Ish published 'Hador vihtkufah' where he says this and also quotes the chason ish as saying also that kook lost his oilam habah! and that one should not study his works on hashkafah and much more Get yourself a copy
Joseph Orlow says: “A President may be criticized But not a post-...” Yes, I’m against posts that make fun and criticize. Under certain conditions criticisms may be OK even in a post. Troll = In Internet slang, a troll is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages. Inflammatory = (especially of speech or writing) arousing or intended to arouse angry or violent feelings "inflammatory slogans" synonyms: provocative, provoking, inflaming, incendiary, inciting, agitating, agitational, stirring, rousing, instigative, fomenting; Examples: 1) Kalonymus Anonymus “ G-d shows "anger", so we are supposed to follow His divine middot.” 2) Kalonymus Anonymus “"It is ok to criticize gedolim"- Rabbi Adin Steinsalts was once giving a talk in a MO shul I went to, and he said "we (rabbonim) want to see more women's underwear". Of you course you would, dirty perverts.” Back to ואתחנן. Moses criticizes us plenty, starting in parshat דברים. In ואתחנן there’s a beg to the Jews, to come to Israel and follows God’s Torah. Wow the horrors of Exile, to bow down to stone and wood. What would Moses say today? Surely, everyone repent and everyone make aliya.
A Dayan once told me that rabbanut hechsher undercuts hareidi hechsherim, and that they stand to lose a lot of money from the modern/Zionist competition. Fact. Therefore, no statements from hareidim have any validity, since they are bribed. It's the sin of shochad. False dayanim.
"also quotes the chason ish as saying also that kook lost his oilam habah!" let's see how feasibl such a claim is:
1) Not even the CI has access to Olam Haba, to tell us who is in and who is out (when he was alive).
2) There needs to be a serious violation of Torah for someone to lose their O.H, especially since Rav Kook was a giant, a posek, and followed Torah meticulously.
3) The CI would attend Rav Kook's shiur and remain standing throughout, this is the esteem he held R' kook in.
4) The CI was a very precise posek, and would give reasons for his statements. No reason given here.
So it is a forgery. Either Schlesinger is making it up, or he is misquoting.
Rabbi eidensohn has already let the cat out of the bag, that rabbonim are liars. He posted a gemara where it says if you want your idea to get traction, say it in the name of a great man (lies, forgery, and pseudepigraphy). Schlesinger is a nobody, a grave digger who went to brisk. How dare he make fake stories about a gaon beyond his class?
Go visit and speak to Rav Elyakim Schlesinger 92 may he live long years and find out some real truth! You are so lucky to live near the great godol talmid muvhak of Griz and Chzon Ish !
I was born there, but not living there anymore. Never heard of him before, suddenly a gadol? I would undoubtedly disagree with him, and that is not a good thing to do with an elderly man.
The CI would attend Rav Kook's shiur and remain standing throughout, this is the esteem he held R' kook in. Just the opposite! He stood up well before the Mandate chief Rabbi began speaking and remained standing not to offend any one ! he knew exactly whom he was dealing with.
Not really, Reb Elchonon was already a fierce enemy of Rav Kook, and presumably was the Griz. The claims made about the CI are not reliable, the axis of NK, Satmar and Munkasz are closer to Tehran and Islam than they are to Judaism.
It is like this - I look to the greatest leaders and poskim of the generations - Rav Shlomo Zalman Aurbach, Rav Elyashiv, Rav Moshe Feinstein, Rav Ovadia Yosef, and they all said that Rav Kook was a Tzaddik and a gaon, as did his contemporaries and teachers, the Netziv, Isser Zalman Meltzer, Rav Chaim Ozer.
Now you mention one old man who nobody has heard of, who is badmouthing , in the tradition of NK and satmar and munkazcs. All we know about Shlesinger is that he is a gravedigger. That axis of evil have no great gedolim, and I trust the gedolim of the world more than I trust your people.
“R. Yitzchak Gerstenkorn, the founder of B’nei Brak, told this story: In 5694 (1934), the Rav [i.e., Rav Avraham Yitzchak Kook] was invited to the groundbreaking ceremony of the Beit Yosef (Novardok) Yeshiva in B’nei Brak…At the ceremony, which the Chazon Ish also attended, Rav Kook spoke at length…Throughout the Rav’s address, the large crowd sat quietly in their seats–everyone but the Chazon Ish. He remained standing throughout the speech, listening attentively to every word. He only sat down when the Rav finished speaking and took his own seat.”
“R. Tzvi Kagan, who was present at the event, added this revealing piece of information: When the Rav’s address began to draw out, people approached the Chazon Ish and suggested that he sit down. The revered rabbi refused, however, saying, ‘The Torah is standing!’”
Funny, all the Gedolim, Roshei Yeshivas in the Hareidi world accepted Rav Elyashiv as the posek hador. Who's heard of Rabbi Shlesinger outside of a a few small shuls and yeshivas? I have to retort to my old Brisker friend in Golders green, about this, since he used to make a big fuss about how rav shach had Daas Torah, and nobody else is correct!
Good visit the elderly Rav Elyakim Schlesinger the grand son son rav Yackov Rosenheim and the son inlaw Rav Moshe Blau the founders of agudas yisroel and present Him with your questions! and so called "proofs!"
For much of my religious life, I have been discouraged from reading Rav Kook. Now I know why. His writings pose a serious threat to those who would rather keep us in little boxes and bubbles
I view it in the following way - it is a matter of trust. I cannot trust your views , when you routineley and without shame are mevazeh the hareidi Gadol Hador, making up all kinds of names, and this is how your cult operate. Also, they falsify everything to suit their wicked agenda. Then there is the question of who has the greatest credibility - is it Rav Elyashiv, and Rav Shteinman, Rav Isser Zalman meltzer and the Netziv, or just the Brisk/NK/Satmar axis? Brisk was certainly great, but the brisker rav was an isolationist. the Chazon Ish told Rav Goldvicht to teach at the Zionist yeshiva, but the Brisker rav told him not to.
The next generation soloveitchiks are unknown little cults, in the Eidah world, whereas Rav Yosef Ber of Boston/YU was the true gadol in that generation, and he supported the Medinah. Perhaps from your viewpoint, you cannot step outside of the the little Brisker/satmar world. My final point, and you might agree, is that gedolim can still make mistakes. It is just that we disagree on which gedolim have made the mistakes.
Go in for a frank disscussion with your elderly neighbor Harav Elyakim Schlesinger You may just change your pruster Daas Hokahal views and learn some real history.
He is driving an EMPTY WAGON!! So BG said Empty we have no redeeming qualities ? the Chazon ish replied yes empty bare completely empty!!
