Mr Epstein was living a hedonistic lifestyle , and a billionaire - suddenly he is in a cell, facing 10 life sentences, with no way out. He was very depressed. Suicide will save him from a living death for the next 30 years, and torture by the fellow inmates, as well as the embarrassment of a trial. So there is a very strong motive for suicide, it happens all the time.
