"…our Republican colleagues refused to address the unprecedented conflicts of interest presented by President Donald Trump and his family. I am deeply concerned that Republicans aren't just ignoring Trump’s corruption—they are legitimizing Trump’s and his family’s efforts to enrich themselves on the backs of average Americans. Through his crypto business, Trump has turned the office of the presidency into a personal moneymaking machine," Waters said in her opening remarks. She later went on to accuse Trump of undermining democracy.

Months after the United Arab Emirates poured billions into a cryptocurrency linked to Donald Trump's family, the investment may be poised to pay off: the UAE appears close to securing a major U.S. chip deal.
President Trump is said to be considering a shift in U.S. policy that could grant the UAE access to advanced American-made semiconductors, Bloomberg reported last week, with Trump expected use an upcoming visit to the region to begin formal talks on revising the so-called "AI diffusion rule," which currently restricts chip exports to the UAE and dozens of other countries.

Feeding Tube for seriously ill to lessen pain but not cure
Igros Moshe (Choshen Mishpat II #74.3) Question: A patient who can not be cured and can not eat should he be given a feeding tube which is dangerous but could prolong his life of pain? Answer It is clear and obvious that he should be fed things that don’t harm him or make his condition worse.and that will definitely strengthen him even if he is not bothered by the lack of food. However he should not be fed against his wishes and a doctor decides what he should eat. If it is a sick child his parents or relatives need to decide for him. He should nevertheless be encouraged to obey the doctor
Trump’s Pope Post Shows His Unholy Narcissism
https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/trump-pope-post-shows-his-unholy-narcissism.html
Now it seems his self-inflation could extend from this world into the next. A few days after attending the funeral of Pope Francis, Trump suggested he’d love to be the Holy Father’s successor. This was universally reported as a “joke,” albeit a tasteless one given the proximity of Francis’s death and the late pontiff’s well-advertised disdain for Trump’s policies and values. But then came the jump-the-shark moment: On May 2, Trump posted an image of himself in full papal regalia to Truth Social, which was then shared on the White House X feed. Hilarious, eh?
Unless I missed it, the humor was lost on many actual Roman Catholics. Embarrassed silence was the reaction typical of the conservative Catholics most likely to differ with Francis’s low opinion of Trump. The president’s friend Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York didn’t even remain silent, saying, “It wasn’t good. As Italians say, it was brutta figura” (embarrassing).
Other New York Catholics expressed cold fury:
What this episode shows most clearly is that Trump either doesn’t care any more about offending sensibilities or is relying on loyalists like Vance to brush off criticism. In any event, it should serve as a note of caution to those who assume this administration and its congressional vassals will bend to adverse public opinion. Trump saw an opportunity to “own the Catholics” and didn’t hesitate to take it.
Trump Melts Down When Confronted About AI Pope Picture Backlash

“Some Catholics were not so happy about the image of you looking like the Pope,” White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich started her question on Monday, but she was cut off by the president before she could finish the full sentence.
The president claimed those who were not happy with it “can’t take a joke.”
“You don’t mean the Catholics. You mean the fake news media… the Catholics loved it,” he argued.

Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, late on Friday, May 2, to share an image of himself in the traditional papal clothing. The official White House social media account later reposted the image on X.
The image garnered a mixed response, with one critic saying it was "rather offensive for Catholics." Michael Steele, a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, was among those to critique the posting of the image, referring to Trump as "unserious and incapable."
Bill O’Reilly Attacks ‘Dopey’ Trump: ‘There’s No Excuse’
https://www.thedailybeast.com/bill-oreilly-attacks-dopey-donald-trump-no-excuse/
Conservative pundit Bill O’Reilly attacked President Donald Trump for posting an AI-generated image of himself dressed as the pope less than a week after attending Pope Francis’ funeral.
“That was just dopey,” O’Reilly told NewsNation anchor Leland Vittert during Monday’s On Balance. “There was no excuse for that… The guy just died, you know?”
“He thought it was funny,” O’Reilly said. “Some people do think it’s funny, but he’s the president. I would’ve advised against it had I been consulted, which I was not.”
The former Fox News legend said: “I didn’t think it was smart because it offended a lot of elderly Catholics who voted for him.”
IDF strikes shut down Sanaa International airport
https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-852847
The IDF said on Tuesday afternoon that it had conducted a wide array of air strikes across Yemen on Sanaa International Airport, electric power stations, and a cement factory, to weaken the Houthis.
The warning is the first time that Israel has given a prior warning before attacking the Houthis, after six prior attacks when no warnings were given, including on Monday.
Defense sources explained that, in this instance, the nature of an international airport, as opposed to Yemen's Port of Hodeidah and other areas which Israel has attacked, demanded a different level of prior warning.
On Monday, the air force undertook a joint counter-strike of the Houthis in Yemen along with the US following the ballistic missile strike near Ben-Gurion Airport on Sunday.
Tuesday's strikes will be a second round of Israel's response to the hit on Ben-Gurion Airport.
Drain the Swamp? MAGA Lobbyists Say They’re ‘Drinking from a Fire Hose.’
https://www.thefp.com/p/drain-the-swamp-maga-lobbyists-say?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
Since 2016, Donald Trump has promised his supporters that he will “drain the swamp”—the president’s catchall pledge to end corruption in Washington. But as his second administration gets busy remaking the federal government, business is good for one of D.C.’s most lucrative—and “swampiest”—lines of work: lobbying. And for those lobbyists enmeshed in MAGA World, business has never been better.
Trump has long promised to clean up Washington. On the campaign trail in 2016 he committed to “a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.” But that pledge has long been forgotten. In the 2024 election, lobbyists registered as agents of foreign governments helped raise more than $10 million for Trump, according to research by Issue One.
Leave to go to college to become doctors
Igros Moshe (YD IV #36.1) Question There are students who want to leave yeshiva to learn in college to prepare to become doctors. Should they be encouraged to remain in yeshiva? Answer |It is definitely good to encourage them to stay in yeshiva especially since they are mostly only 17 years old. They want to leave the yeshiva because of the seduction of the yetzer that they need to be concerned with parnossa and they are not interested or satisfied with a Torah profession such as being a teacher or rabbi or computers or other profession which takes relative little time to prepare. They only want medicine or similar professions which require great amounts of time (ten years or more) as well as going to college. This is advice of the wicked. No one gets corrupted immediately. First you listen to the advice of the wicked that you need to be concerned with parnossa.even before the appropriate age since they have all their needs met by their parents but they still worry because of the advice of the wicked and this is reinforced by the principle not to rely on miracles for which they become very conscientious Consequently they don’t worry about parnossa at the normal time which is appropriate after marriage. That is because G-d can provide parnossa in many ways even without miracles but in a natural fashion aqs is obvious and it doesn’t require any preparation. That is stated clearly in Kiddushin (82a) I ignore all professions and only teach my son Torah. Even those who disagree and say that it is teaching him to be a thief do not require that their children be taught a profession that will make them wealthy. They only require a minimal easy job and give instruction in addition to pray for adequate parnossa. That is because wealth and poverty are from G-d not from a profession. Thus these youth are acting on a false idea that wealth is determined by profession. Even the need to study an easy and clean profession has not been required in America for a long time because of G-d’s kindness This is true not only for America but for the whole world. It is a fact that almost all the wealthy became wealthy not because of a specific course of study whether medicine or engineering or even accounting. Even those who received specialized training, this did not cause their wealth or made them more wealthy than other rich people. Thus we see that wealth is a entirely a present from G-d according to his merit and mazal. As long as they stay in yeshiva, most will want to be a talmid chachom. Thank G-d we have many students who do not want to leave yeshiva for any reason even against the pressure from parents. In fact there is no obligation to listen to parents in this matter .As regards satisfaction. What relevance does that have for parnossa and material things. It only is relevant for spiritual matters. It obviously is an issue only because they lack an inherent love and desire for Torah study. Consequently if it is possible, they should be influenced to stay in yeshiva and not worry at all about parnossa. However if they can’t be influenced to stay or at least to delay leaving for a number of years and to trust that G-d will provide them with parnossa. Try to delay them at least a year or two because they don’t lose by this short delay. But this requres care since by remaining a short time it might be a bad influence on others. If that is not a concern thaen by remaining another year or two they might change their mind and stay permananetly. This that you are sure that if they go to college they won’t study prohibited subjects. That is definitely not something that can be relied upon. Once they leave yeshiva it is likely that they will be influenced to the bad by their fellow students . Therefore you need to try hard to keep them in yeshiva. And if you can’t to at least find someone who can influence them in college to remain religious and continue Torah study.
