Netanyahu, Eisenkot blocs still deadlocked despite coalition lead • Arab parties predicted to reach combined seat total of 16-19, complicating efforts to form coalition
No clear winner emerged in Israel’s election, according to exit polls published by Channels 11, 12, and 13 on Tuesday night, all of which showed both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc and the opposition bloc seeking to replace him falling short of a 61-seat Knesset majority.
However, by Wednesday morning, some polls showed Netanyahu's bloc with a clear lead.
On Tuesday, the opposition bloc, comprising Yashar, B’Yachad, Yisrael Beytenu, and the Democrats, was projected to win 49-51 seats, compared with 51-52 for Netanyahu’s bloc. On Wednesday morning, the opposition bloc had fallen to 47 across all three channels, and Netanyahu's bloc was projected to win 53-57 mandates.
Israel is in deep trouble.
ReplyDeleteBibi is already crowing about creating an even more "right-wing" (ie. loyal to keeping Bibi in power no matter the cost to the country) coalition. All the stuff that the opposition hates about the government? He'll double down on it! More chaos in Yesha! More corruption in the police and higher crime rates! More money to the parasites in their yeshivos and kollels!
And then it won't be hard to predict that 100 000's of secular Israelis, the productive ones who generate the revenue that keeps the country afloat, just leaving. Of course the Kahanists and the Chareidim will laugh "Go on, we don't need you!" but then bills will start to come due and who will pay them?
