Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu early Monday morning ordered the cancellation of the annual Lag Ba’Omer celebrations in Meron, citing the fragile ceasefire with Lebanon. The decision was made following several security assessments chaired by the Prime Minister.
It was stressed that the directive stems from “concerns over a potential mass-casualty event due to the fragility of the ceasefire with Lebanon, the site’s proximity to the Lebanese border, the possibility of rocket fire toward the area, and the difficulty of carrying out a large-scale evacuation of participants within the necessary timeframe."
And cue the outrage and mass demonstrations.

ReplyDeleteNo they are not.
DeleteSchools are again closed in the north. Businesses are suffering because they're closed half the time. Families are suffering from the constant stress of the bombardments.
And then one day hundreds of thousands of chareidim show up, not only oblivious to the suffering of the locals but disdainful of it. Who cares if they're suffering? It's Lag B'Omer and we have the right to celebrate!
25000 people at a soccer match. Explain how that is okay but not 25000 at Meron?
DeleteMeron is not designed the same way as a stadium. Explain why a roof with a parapet is OK but one without is nto OK.
DeleteSo invest in the infrastructure to make it more accessible and better egress
DeleteNeed volunteers, especially from the hareidi sector who don't like guns. Have you seen the steps that still exist from the Beit Hamikdash? Designed to safely disperse the crowds and advert a stampede. Chachamim.
