Two prominent haredi leaders condemned the riots today, writing that they were forbidden both as a danger and a sacrilege.
He urged the broader public not to judge the entire haredi community based on the actions of what he described as a small group. “This behavior disgraces those who observe Torah and commandments," he said. “We ask for forgiveness for having reached such a situation and pray for unity and brotherhood among our people."
“Beyond the physical danger, this constitutes a grave desecration of God’s name," he wrote, warning against any participation in such incidents. According to the statement, Rabbi Moshe Hillel Hirsch also joined the call.
The condemnations are hollow and hypocritical.
ReplyDeleteBoth men have plenty of recordings of them encouraging just this kind of behaviour. Now suddenly they're horrified?
This isn't about their fear that the Torah observant have been disgraced. This is about their lies being exposed. The same "Klei Kodesh" (itself an incredibly arrogant self-appointed label) that can't fight because they're too busy learning and keeping the accursed state afloat suddenly pour into the streets behaving like savages because two women walked up the street in Tzahal uniforms. Not only that but they burn some tefillin and a siddur and sing with pride about it. This demonstration once again showed that all the "We love the Torah! We're the true Torah learners!" is a lie to justify their selfishness and cowardice.
