President Donald Trump could be headed for a speedy acquittal in his Senate impeachment trial after Republicans secured assurances from a key lawmaker late Thursday night that he would not break with the party to request additional evidence and testimony.




A Pyrrhic victory (/ˈpɪrɪk/ (About this soundlisten) PIRR-ik) is a victory that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. Someone who wins a Pyrrhic victory has also taken a heavy toll that negates any true sense of achievement or damages long-term progress.

    I respectfully disagree. It is more about my own incompetency, corruption, and compulsive lying that eclipses my capacity to find fault in others who have these flaws.

    I have no doubt that if I were not such a loser and failure in general at life that I would not be so quick to ignore what appear to me now as "insignificant details."

    And you forget that those are essential qualities to becoming the leader of any large Western democracy. The competent, honest, non-deceiving and truthful men are off running small businesses and charitable foundations.

    I don't know about all small businesses. Anecdotal tales indicate that with minimum wage laws, high rents, taxes, insurance and regulations, running a profitable small business on the up-and-up in a major city U.S. city is problematic.
