THE WORLD CONGRESS OF THE AGUDATH ISRAEL UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED A RESOLUTION YESTERDAY REJECTING PROPOSALS FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF A JEWISH STATE IN PALESTINE.
THE PROPER FULFILLMENT OF THE MANDATE WOULD BRING ABOUT PEACE BETWEEN ARABS AND JEWS
https://www.jta.org/1937/08...
Rabbi Yaakov Rosenheim, founder of "Agudath Israel" speaking in Marienbad
The agreement of the Association for the Establishment of a State prior to the coming of the Messiah is based on rulings of the Torah sages. However, these judgments depend on two basic conditions, far from reality and possibility
1) The state should be conducted according to Torah and tradition
2) There must be peace with the Arabs
The second condition is to uphold the oath against the rising like a wall (verses 111a). This oath forbids us to take any military action or occupation of the land against the will of the Arabs and the governments of the world. The oath prohibiting the rebellion against the nations refers to the revolution of military power
I do not believe that in the present circumstances, it is possible that there will be a state according to Jewish law ... I will consider the establishment of a state as a disaster and bad luck. - Rabbi Jacob Rosenheim, founder and political leader of "Aguda" in Reshumot in the Knesset.
And what has that to do with anything? You cannot walk 100 yards in any western city without this lgbqtxyzabc being advertised and bombarding us. It's like air pollution, occurs everywhere.
The "Agudah" had a minority who voted for the Medinah, one was Harav Kalischer, but the opponents could simply not think beyond their next pay check, they had no clue what was going on in Europe and had no clue that within a few years 6 million Jews would be slaughtered. A few genius gedolim did have vision, one was rav Meir Simcha of Dvinsk ztl and the other was Rav Avraham Y. Kook ztl. The Or sameach actually predicted there would be some Holocaust coming from Berlin, and he supported balfour and rejected the satmar view on the 3 oaths. You think the Hareidim who even rejected Visas during WW2 could see further than their own noses? Sadly not.
Berel Wein is talking nonsense. Weizmann was a significant Chemist in the University of Manchester, and has a process named after him. when Wein has something named after him, he will be a famous rabbi.
"orthodox anti-zionists, and their bedfellows the assimilated anti-Zionists testified against the Zionists". i.e. the reform and the hareidim are moiserim, and always have been.
Wein is demonstrating his moronity. What a complete nincompoop.
This self described "historian" has no actual concept of historical events in general and Jewish history in particular. he is saying that in hindsight, the Balfour declaration was not a good thing, because the Arabs resented it and turned to violence. The ksil has conveniently forgotten (or perhaps didn't know about the Islamic violence that already existed across the Middle east, and how there were pogroms and conversions against the jews all over this area. Of course the mass murders in europe also are not considered in his so-called "hindsight".
Let's put it this way - the Chareidi groups who reject Modernity and Tzionut, each have one or 2 redeeming qualities, even though they contradict their fellow chareidim. Some examples:
Satmar - at least they recognize the reality of economics and the need and mitzvah to work.
Lubavitch: They support the control of Eretz yisroel and its wholeness being in Jewish hands, and under the military control of Jews, regardless of their supposed anti-Zionist past.
Brisk - totally anti-everything, except for one thing they are a bit better at, is logical thinking. Lomdus .
Litvish Misnagdim - they shun Universities, Yeshiva University, the army , professions etc. But they reject the superstitious ideas that have infiltrated Yiddishkeit , eg the Mitzvah of bittul Torah on Nittel nacht, and to some extent the Lag b'omer insanity.
Lakewood (old school, in Rav Aharon's day) were great in chesed.
Baltimore - TIDE - they respect and encourage their students to study in University and learn secular knowledge and professions.
First of all it may be significant to note that this lecture by Rabbi Wein was given in 2003, so it is somewhat outdated. Second, Rabbi Wein fails to mention another motive by Britain in its support of the Balfour declaration, namely that it was vehemently against the alternative of allowing the persecuted Jewish refugees from Poland and Russia to emigrate to England, an outcome much desired By British Jewry, but totally unacceptable to Britain's non-Jewish establishment.
So in Balfour's words, "His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people. ", (as long as Palestine in the Turkish enemy's possession, as it was in 1917).
The Arabs too, would view with favor, the establishment of a Jewish homeland, as long as it is located on the non-planet Pluto.
"Perhaps most important reason for the "silence" is that acknowledgment of the "Nakba" our role in it, might threaten the very legitimacy of the State of Israel."

The Arizal said the oaths were over after 1000 years. Is Lubavitcher rebbe or Samar smarter than the Arizal?
ReplyDeleteWhy you complaining? They can work in kosher hotels on shabbes 😁
ReplyDeleteRabbis Goren and Lubavitcher rebbe wanted to change the law of return, but Rav Shach opposed the bill.
