President Donald Trump is known for tooting his own horn. In recent weeks, one of the accomplishments he’s been trumpeting is his standing with Republican voters.
In a July 29 tweet, Trump wrote, "Wow, highest Poll Numbers in the history of the Republican Party. That includes Honest Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. There must be something wrong, please recheck that poll!"
Our ruling
Trump said, "Wow, highest Poll Numbers in the history of the Republican Party. That includes Honest Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan."
Credit where credit is due: Trump is very popular among Republicans, and at one point, his approval rating within his own party trailed only George W. Bush among postwar Republican presidents.
However, no pre-1936 president served in an era with scientific polling, so Trump’s comparison of himself to Lincoln is spurious. Meanwhile, Trump’s approval rating at the time of the tweet ranked in the middle of the post-World War II Republican presidents, and measured in other ways, his support among Republicans was actually worse than every post-war Republican president except for Gerald Ford.
We rate the statement False.

Do I like the lies?

President Clinton took lying to a new level. And Secretary Clinton is no stranger to the lie. Because of the widespread support for the Clintons, their lying became the baseline measure of what is acceptable lying in the service of becoming President of the United States and keeping that job.
Comes Donald Trump and he wraps the needle around the stop on the Political Lie-o-Meter. And wins the White House in the process.
I think that's FUNNY.
And he's holding on to his office by becoming the Fabricator-in-Chief. That's ALSO funny!
My hope is that he breaks the whole system -- not only draining the swamp, but replacing it with fountains and springs of filtered, purified water. That is, with a government based on integrity.
But it ain't gonna happen.
In the next election, the Democratic candidate will run on a platform that open borders and unlimited immigration is going to make America great again. And that's a lie that towers over all of Donald Trump's lies piled one on top of the other.
Things are just going to get worse in the whopper-verse.
