Dear Editor,

As Israeli elections approach, one existential threat in particular quietly emerges. This issue is identified in the Gemara Chullin 92b, as one of the three mitzvos which has traditionally been observed by the Nations of the world.  The sin in question is also specified by Chazal (in VaYikra Rabba 23:9 on Achrei-Mos 18:3) as the abomination which triggered the annihilation of civilization via the Mabul (before there were Jews).  This same iniquity also rank's high on the agenda of former PM Bennet and Yair Lapid (sr"y) (presumably for similar reasons...).  If they win, then the aforementioned policy, also legalized by the US, could be perpetrated in Israel, R"L.  The devastating consequences that ensued for America - and American Jewry ({many of which are} too repulsive to detail in a family paper) - would then similarly hit Israel.  If passed in Israel, it would be an unprecedented public Chillul HaShem - a "Jewish" state doing what even the Romans didn't.

Over twenty years ago, when Americans were already talking about that evil policy shift, Rav Shmuel Faivelson ZT"L, Talmid muvhak of Rav Aharon Kotler, ZT"L, told me that we see from that Gemara in Chullin that that sin (marriage de-definition) poses an existential threat to the world (as is evidenced by the VaYikra Rabba - NSL).

We all know that another issue garnering the focus of public attention is Israel's male military draft. The Brisker Rov was an extreme opponent of drafting boys. Yet, when asked about his efforts to secure a blanket draft exemption for all girls - especially non-observant girls (!) - he responded:  Let them close every Yeshiva rather than draft even one  girl! ( Sefer Yelled Sha'ashuim, pg. 348-50).  Imagine if he would be asked about the priority of opposition to the male draft vs. allowing "Mabul Marriage" - how much more so would he adamantly oppose allowing such a policy to pass into law.
