These “teshuvos” were panned by a host of leading poskim, including Rav Hershel Schachter and Rav Mendel Zilber, who said that these supposed psakim are actually error-laden misreadings and misunderstandings of Rishonim and Acharonim. ReplyDeleteA lot of people, including the same Rav shachter, and Israeli rabbanut rejected Dayan Sherman's ad hoc "BD ", and the adultery /mamzerut it produced.

My thinking was that just like techelet has gradually been adopted, so might something like afkinu. But they are not comparable, at least not on the downside. There exists no issur of using the modern murex dye on tziztit. There is a risk of applying afkinu. Nevertheless, it may eventually gain some traction despite being opposed by gedolim.
