That's right - all they have said about the weapons that Britain is supplying is that they are legitimate targets once they are in Ukraine. in other words, these are the rules of war.
If Biden was truly serious, he'd give fighter jets to Ukraine and anything else they need to counter the only advantage the Russians have - the air force. And then he'd turn around and start sending a slow flow of advanced weapons to Taiwan so China would get the hint.
China is incredibly reliant on exports of dollar store products to the West. What's more, China is wealthier than Russia although it's based on borrowed money which means the sanctions would hit them hard and quickly.
And that's the point. Conventional war is so... European. China and the US have actually been at war for over a decade now but it's all on-line cyberwarfare. Same with Israel and Iran. The US and China are unlikely to get into a shooting war unless something goes very wrong because each side has too much to lose so they will instead fight cyber and economic wars with each other. That's also why NATO is using economic sanctions with Russia. What's the alternative? Bomb Moscow? It'll cause them too much damage when Putin retaliates but NATO does have the economic edge and they're using it.
The war in Ukraine is a proxy war between NATO and Russia without NATO losing any personnel and the ukrainians being the useful idiots to get killed. NATO pumping in in more and more hitech weaponry which they train the ukrainians to use against Russia. Cyberwar is just part of it with Israel fighting Iran militarily n Syria.

Haha
ReplyDeleteChina are already revising their invasion plans. Perhaps they won't give ww2 era rifles to their soldiers like Russia has done.

ReplyDeleteIt's difficult to fight 2 superpowers at the same time. But as you say, sanctions against China would bankrupt the country.
