To paraphrase, this is what the ambassador said: You Israelis are worried that your country, of all the countries in the world, will be inundated by Ukrainians just dying to live here? Relax, it won’t happen.
Though a bit jarring to hear, the ambassador is probably right.
It's hard to know.
ReplyDeleteOne of the less known after effects of the mass immigration of Russian gentiles in the early 90's was that lots of them only used Israel as a stepping stone to get to the West. It's likely lots of Ukrainian gentiles who are claiming some Jewish heritages won't stick around.
Some of them have become shomronim (cutim) to revive the small community up North.
