It would be a favor to us, they continued, if this land were given to your servants as a holding; do not move us across the Jordan. Moses replied to the Gadites and the Reubenites, Are your brothers to go to war while you stay here? Why will you turn the minds of the Israelites from crossing into the land that the Lord has given them? That is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to survey the land. After going up to the wadi Eshcol and surveying the land, they turned the minds of the Israelites from invading the land that the Lord had given them. Thereupon the Lord was incensed and He swore, None of the men from twenty years up who came out of Egypt shall see the land that I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for they did not remain loyal to Me—none except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they remained loyal to the Lord. The Lord was incensed at Israel, and for forty years He made them wander in the wilderness, until the whole generation that had provoked the Lord’s displeasure was gone. And now you, a breed of sinful men, have replaced your fathers, to add still further to the Lord’s wrath against Israel. If you turn away from Him and He abandons them once more in the wilderness, you will bring calamity upon all this people.” (Numbers 32:1-15). Hertz Chumash p. 708:”7.turn away the heart. With Trump POTUS now is a good time for American Jews to make aliya. Rabbi Eliezer Melamed says that it is a modern sin of the spies not to make aliya when making aliya is so easy. See http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/283399 “The Result of the Sin of the Spies Today About a hundred and twenty years ago, close to fifty years after Rabbi Alkalai and Rabbi Kalisher had initiated their activities, at the time of the establishment of the Zionist movement, the Jewish people numbered approximately eleven million, while the Arabs who lived in all areas of the Biblical borders, including Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, numbered a little more than five million, with a little more than half a million Arabs living on both sides of the Jordan. At that point, the Jewish nation had the opportunity to return to the Land of Israel, in which to flourish and multiply. However, the majority of our nation was afraid to uproot themselves from the Diaspora, to immigrate to Israel, and to take their fate in their own hands, as the Torah commands. Indeed, the challenge was immense; immigration to Israel in those days involved many difficulties. However, the refusal to fulfill the mitzvah to immigrate to Israel when it was possible to do so, was in a sense, a modern-day sin of the Spies, and as we were warned in the Torah, the price for it is horrendous. We suffered the Holocaust, the rule of Communist oppression, and assimilation. And thus today, there are about fifteen million declared Jews in the world, and in Israel, approximately seven million. In contrast, the Arabs in the vicinity of Eretz Yisrael benefited from the fruits of the industrial revolution, the growth of food production, and the improvement of medicine, and grew from five million to more than eighty million. Still, it is not too late. It is still possible to unite around the national and divine mission, and change the situation. “Get ready! We’re going up to Zion to the Lord our God!” The Lord proclaims: Sing joyfully for the people of Jacob; shout for the leading nation. Raise your voices with praise and call out: “The Lord has saved his people, the remnant of Israel!” (Jeremiah, 31: 5-6)”

Daas Torah “good for him and he knows this how?” Allow me to answer. I say Moses is speaking to American Jews who don’t want to make aliya. I cite Rabbi Eliezer Melamed. In Numbers 32:1-15 Moses reviews in detail the sin of the spies 40 years earlier. Moses says (Numbers 32:7-8): “Why will you turn the minds of the Israelites from crossing into the land that the Lord has given them? Mishnah 1
There were two judges of civil law in Jerusalem, Admon and Chanan ben Abishalom. Chanan states two decisions, Admon states seven. Whosoever went to a country beyond
the seas, and his wife claims maintenance, Chanan says, She should swear at the end but let her not take an oath at the beginning. The sons of the High Priests argued against him and said, Let her swear both at the beginning and at the end. R. Dosa ben Harkinas
decided in accordance with their view. R. Jochanan ben Zakkai said, Chanan said well that she should take an oath only at the end.
According to R. Jochanan ben Zakka a husband that leaves Israel, abandoning his wife in Israel, the wife gets maintenance immediately with no need of swearing in court.
Mishnah 11
All can be compelled to move to the Land of Israel but no one may be compelled to move out. All may be forced to go up to Jerusalem but none can be made to leave, whether they be men or women.
In Jewish law I have the upper hand since I moved to Jerusalem, Israel July 1991 despite Susan's objections. Judge Prus knows this.”
