  5. To all those that think that Hashem gave us the embarrassing anti-vaxxer debacle for no reason... I beg to differ...

With three "Gedolim" firmly lost to the looney-tunes, anti-vax, quackery.. everyone will be forced to revisit the Chassidik-inspired, Christian-type, blind faith of "The Gedolim know everything" religion. It should now be evident to every single human being, that you can't just assume "The Gedolim" automatically grasp complicated concepts, of which they have no training or experience, nor shall you trust "Gedolim" as THE AUTHORITY on all family, communal, and political dynamics of which they are not familiar...

Some of these geniuses are demonstrating that they don't even have the common-sense of a simple man on the street, to not fall for the anti-vax nutjobs!!

  6. Torah thought on Parsah מקץ:
Joseph ran the penal system in ancient Egypt for 12 years. My theory is he put the prisoners to sensible work in ancient Egypt. He put the prisoners to copying over manuscripts and engravings etc. Joseph learned the 70 languages.
    Sotah 36b
“R. Hiyya b. Abba said in the name of R. Johanan: At the moment when Pharaoh said to Joseph “Pharaoh said to Joseph, I am Pharaoh; yet without you, no one shall lift up hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.” (Genesis 41:44) Pharaoh's astrologers exclaimed: Wilt thou set in power over us a slave whom his master bought for twenty pieces of silver! He replied to them, I discern in him royal characteristics. They said to him, In that case he must be acquainted with the seventy languages. Gabriel came and taught [Joseph] the seventy languages, but he could not learn them. Thereupon [Gabriel] added to his name a letter from the Name of the Holy One, blessed be He, and he learnt [the languages] as it is said: 6He imposed it as a decree upon Joseph ביהוסף when he went forth from [or he went forth against] the land of Egypt; I heard a language that I knew not” (Psalms 81:6). On the morrow, in whatever language Pharaoh conversed with him he replied to him; but when [Joseph] spoke to him in the holy tongue he did not understand what he said. So he asked him to teach it to him; he taught it to him but he could not learn it. [Pharaoh] said to him, Swear to me that thou wilt not reveal this [that he was ignorant of Hebrew, and a king was expected to know every language.]; and he swore to him. When [Joseph] later said to him, My father made me swear, saying [Genesis 50:5 that he should inter his body in Canaan], he remarked to him, Go, ask [to be released from] thine oath [In Jewish Law only proper authorities could release a man from his oath. Pharaoh did not wish Joseph to leave Egypt to bury his father.]. He replied to him, I will also ask [to be released from my oath] concerning thee [i.e., if Pharaoh refused him permission, he would take steps to enable him to disclose the king's ignorance of Hebrew.]. Therefore, although it was displeasing to him, [Pharaoh] said to him, “And Pharaoh said, Go up and bury your father, as he made you promise on oath.” (Genesis 50:6).
I like non-miraculous explanations of the Bible. Joseph knew the 70 languages from his 12 years running the ancient Egypt penal system. Daf Hayomi Chullin 5a:
“Can we say that the following supports his [R. ‘Anan's] view? It is written: ”The ravens והערבים brought him [Elijah] bread and meat every morning and every evening, and he drank from the wadi. (1 Kings 17:6) … What is meant by the ravens? Rabina said: It means actually ravens. R. Ada b. Manyomi, however, suggested to him: May it not mean two men whose names were Oreb ערב, as we find it written: “They pursued the Midianites and captured Midian’s two generals, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at the Rock of Oreb and they killed Zeeb at the Winepress of Zeeb; and they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb from the other side of the Jordan to Gideon.” (Judges 7:25) [hence we find a person named Oreb].”
Adam Smith in Wealth of Nations page 24 talks of ancient Egypt:
“Of all the countries on the coast of the Mediterranean sea, Egypt seems to have been the first in which either agriculture or manufactures were cultivated and improved to any considerable degree. Upper Egypt extends itself nowhere above a few miles from the Nile; and in Lower Egypt, that great river breaks itself into many different canals, which, with the assistance of a little art, seem to have afforded a communication by water-carriage, not only between all the great towns, but between all the considerable villages, and even to many farm-houses in the country, nearly in the same manner as the Rhine and the Meuse do in Holland at present. The extent and easiness of this inland navigation was probably one of the principal causes of the early improvement of Egypt.”
Because of the Nile, tributaries and canals Joseph learned the 70 languages…

  10. Lol "Courage" in your own mind...

My comment was entirely targeted to those of us that are already 1000% certain that anti-vax conspiracy theorists have nothing to offer. I was addressing what we should learn from the debacle, for those of us that have not heard ONE intelligent coherent argument.

For people like you- "courage" I just feel sorry.

By the way, claiming that I have to "shut up" until I read your book is like the Christian asking us Jews why we reject Jesus and if we read the whole new testament. No, first you prove to me that you're fantastic claims have any credibility and then we talk. Unless and until i hear anything that gives me any pause, i will safely assume that the Christians and the anti-vaxxers have nothing...without reading all the material.
