ReplyDeleteWhich rabbinic organizations does Rav Moshe Shternbuch support?
Who is upset?
The ones who threatened rabbi Sternbuch and his son are the Asra Kadisha organization who are headed by rabbi Shmidel who is sort of Netuei Karta, they are upset at rabbi Sternbuch for supporting another organization closer to Agudah.
ReplyDeleteBoth organizations are fighting against development in locations where they claim there are Jewish graves.
In any case there is no story here, because this is the way issues are handled in Meah Shearim (rabbi Sternbuch lives in Har Nof though).
When they have no Zionists to fight against, they turn to fight each other which in a way it is a good thing.
The issue involves certain fanatics known as the Sikrikim (a branch of Neturei Karta) who oppose his support of an organizations "Aguda lmenias chilul kevarim" for preventing chilul hashem concerning burial places

There is an adage in the Haredi world, where they blame the extreme or borderline actions of someone on his mentoring - but only if it was a mentor in Modernish world ; so R' JB Soloveitchik is blamed for anything done by musmachim of YU. Or, R Yosef Burg was blamed for his son becoming an extreme leftist etc.
ReplyDeleteThe hypocrisy here is that non of the crimes comited by haredi extremists and offshoots are blamed on their own mentors. Nobody would dare to utter a word of criticism against the founder of the NK movement; the violence and pogroms committed by extremist chassidim are disconnected form their rebbes. the Yeshiva wars and attempted assasination of a Rosh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak are never suggested to be an logical outcome of the extremism taught by the previous Rosh Yeshiva.
Eddie,
ReplyDeleteGood points. I wasn't aware that there was an assassination attempt on a Rosh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak. Please share the info.
