Given the progressive opening of the Northwest Passage and the presence of rare minerals needed for the computer industry, Greenland is far too important to be left to a milquetoast country currently getting overrun by its Muslim hordes. This will not end with an invasion. This will end with a massive expansion of the US military base already there and effective US control over the area while it remains nominally part of Denmark.
It's a deterrent against Russia. Also strategically to defend Europe.
