Catastrophic floods in Texas have claimed at least 51 lives, while more than 25 girls remain missing, according to authorities. Rescue operations are underway across the state as emergency teams race against time. In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), officials have blamed the Trump administration’s National Weather Service (NWS) for the failed weather forecast, attributing it to cost cuts and halted funding by the DOGE, a department once headed by Elon Musk.

For decades voters wanted to curtail government spending. But between the Congress and successive Administrations along with the the bureaucrats running the government, progress was slow or non-existent in the realm of cost-cutting. So the government developed a thick undergrowth, so to speak, and finally a president hired someone to go in and conduct controlled burns and hack away with a machete. Why blame Donald Trump? Why not blame the people who let the government grow out-of-control and resisted reigning in the spending?
ReplyDeleteAs far back as Reagan we had "Government is the problem, not the solution." Everyone accepted that government was oversized, bloated, and inefficient. Everyone accepted that if government was run like an efficient private company, it would be half the size it was and twice as productive.
DeleteUntil Trump came to power. Then suddenly government was sacrosanct and every single employee was invaluable.
