Trump’s vote-twice comments outrage media, which amplify his message

 https://www.foxnews.com/media/trumps-vote-twice-comments-outrage-media-which-amplify-his-message

Had Trump merely issued his 130th warning about mail ballot fraud, it wouldn’t have made much news, maybe one paragraph in a story. But he knows from long experience that when he crosses the line, goes over the top, the resulting furor can last several days, even a week, getting the media and political world chattering about the very issue he wants to spotlight.

[ And if he shot someone to demonstrate he is above the law that is also acceptable to his supporters]

  1. I think his basic point, while outrageous, is sound - if the system is so good, then there's no danger to voting by both mail-in and in person. It should catch such fraud.
And no, I don't approve of him shooting anyone.

Sorry not reading your red-herring posts. The red herring fallacy is a logical fallacy where someone presents an irrelevant piece of information in an attempt to distract their opponent and the audience from the topic that is being discussed, or to shift the discussion in a new direction

    Daf Hayomi today Eiruvin 27b
“That [R. Isaac's ruling that salt water may be purchased with money of the second tithe] refers only to a case where oil was mixed with them. Said Abaye to him: [In that case] might not the ruling be obvious on account of the oil? The ruling was necessary in that case only where one covered the cost of the water and the salt by paying an inclusive price [בהבעלה lit. by absorption (rt. בלע to absorb)] [for the oil]. [R. Isaac thus taught us that money of the second tithe, though it may not be spent on water, salt or salt-water, may well be spent on the purchase of them where they are mixed with oil and a higher and inclusive price is paid for the latter.] But is this permissible by paying an inclusive price? Yes.”

“Should the distance be too great for you, should you be unable to transport them, because the place where the Lord your God has chosen to establish His name is far from you and because the Lord your God has blessed you [i.e. with abundant crops], you may convert them into money. Wrap up the money and take it with you to the place that the Lord your God has chosen, and spend the money on anything you want—cattle,
sheep, wine, or other intoxicant, or anything you may desire. And you shall feast there, in the presence of the Lord your God, and rejoice with your household.” (Deuteronomy 14:24:26).

I’m a PhD economist. The Torah in Deuteronomy 14:24:26 allows landowners that live outside of Jerusalem to convert the 10% of their yearly produce to money and then to spend this money in Jerusalem. The restriction by paying an inclusive price [בהבעלה lit. by absorption (rt. בלע to absorb)] means, in effect, these landowners from outside Jerusalem can buy anything from a seller in Jerusalem as long as some meat from cattle or sheep and some wine or other intoxicant is included in the purchase. After the transaction the landowner buyer from outside Jerusalem eats a portion in Jerusalem with is family and can take all the rest back home with him, after giving charity. Beautiful.
Hertz Chumash p. 810: “to fear the Lord thy God. The Biblical phrase for being filled with the sense of dependence upon God.”
My interpretation is that buying some meat from cattle or sheep and buying some wine or other intoxicant in Jerusalem with his מעשר שני money will absolve the landowner of (Deuteronomy 14:24:26) requirements. The landowner must spend all his מעשר שני money in Jerusalem but need not eat/consume in Jerusalem all the meat from cattle or sheep and all wine or intoxicant. The Torah does not approve of riotous living of too much meat and too much wine, e.g. “They shall say to the elders of his town, This son of ours is disloyal and defiant; he does not heed us. He is a glutton זולל and a drunkard וסבא.” (Deuteronomy 21:20). Hertz Chumash p. 841: “glutton. Includes not only gluttony, but is a term for a general debauchee, ‘riotous liver’ (RV).”

  3. you should at least pay attention to what you write!

The article which you claim is a red herring was a defense of Trump by Fox News.
On the other hand you are right that Trump and his supports commonly try to distract from the important issues rather than address the substance something you frequently do with your comments.

  4. The red herrings he is referring to are Trump focussed articles which he refuses to read. He is providing an alternative in the form of a Davar Torah.

Allow my letter today by UPS to the IRS:
“See my letters attached dated June 3, 2020 and August 11, 202. My bank JPMorgan Chase Bank got the $1,200 check and the small check for $5.86 and deposited $1,205.86 to my account on August 13, 2020. Thus, no need for you to issue for me a replacement US Treasury check $1200.00.”
Example how unreliable ordinary mail is. I mailed the $1,200 check on June 3, 2020 to my bank. My bank credited my account on August 13, 2020. The Democrats want a foul up with mail-in voting.

Allow my letter today to NYS Ct of Appeals Mo. No. 352 June 29, 2020 still undecided:
"3.Clearly Judge Prus and Susan knew very well that the value of the property at 498 East 18th Street, Brooklyn, New York vastly exceeds any supposed debt I had for child support. Even with figuring the child support retroactive to when I was still in Brooklyn and Susan was behaving sweet and lovely to me. Even with 9% compounded interest on a phony balance. Even with Susan receiving 55% of my TIAA pension from early 1994 for child support. The initial judge of my case was Judge Ambrosio. I filed complaints, to no avail, against Judge Ambrosio, Judge Garson and Judge Prus with the Commission on Judicial Conduct.

4.The September 10, 2013 Judgment of Divorce had the lie: “the Separation Judgment dated March 7, 1995 an original of which is on file with this Court along with a transcript of the proceedings and Order of the Supreme Court Kings County by Judge Rigler and incorporated herein by reference.” My SCOTUS docket numbers 18-7160 and 18-9390 focused on the lie of the fake/phony March 7, 1995 Rigler order of separation. Note that
Exhibit A: Judge Prus Order September 25, 2015 orders that a copy of this Order with Notice of Entry thereof be served upon the defendant. It is gross judicial misconduct that Judge Prus won't send me a copy of the supposed March 7, 1995 Rigler order of separation. This is a critical document I have a right to see."

  6. “Trump’s vote-twice comments outrage media, which amplify his message” No. The media knows very well that massive mail-in-balloting will foul up the November USA election.

Torah thought on this week’s double parsha נצבים וילך.
“Perchance there is among you some man or woman, or some clan or tribe, whose heart is even now turning away from the Lord our God to go and worship the gods of those nations—perchance there is among you a stock sprouting poison weed and wormwood שרש פרה ראש ולענה. When such a one hears the words of these sanctions, he may bless himself in his heart והתברך בלבבו, saying לאמר, I shall have peace שלום יהיה לי, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart כי בשררות לבי אלך—to the utter ruin of moist and dry alike [i.e. everything] למען ספות הרוה את הצמאה.” (Deuteronomy 29:17-18).

Hertz Chumash p. 879: “bless himself in his heart. Congratulate or delude himself. Because of God’s oath to Israel, the man flatters himself that he is secure, no matter how recklessly he indulges in evil. in the stubbornness of my heart. ‘Though I persist in the strong wayward impulses of my heart’ cf. Jer. XXIII, 17.”

“Assuredly, thus said the Lord of Hosts concerning the prophets: I am going to make them eat wormwood And drink a bitter draft; For from the prophets of Jerusalem Godlessness has gone forth to the whole land. Thus said the Lord of Hosts: Do not listen to the words of the prophets Who prophesy to you. They are deluding you, The prophecies they speak are from their own minds, Not from the mouth of the Lord.” (Jeremiah 23:15-16).

Today’s Left/progressive media claiming that Trump is the problem is a red herring fallacy to distract people from the issues that matter. Did Moses have a red herring problem in נצבים? Maybe---those that rejected Oral Torah. Everyone accepted Written Torah wholeheartedly with נעשה ונשמע. Moses sought to dissuade non-believers in Oral Torah with threats. Moses strengthens believers in Oral Torah by saying See you’re standing alive today all men with their wives and children, in good health entering Israel. “You stand this day, all of you, before the Lord your God—your tribal heads, your elders and your officials, all the men of Israel, your children, your wives, even the stranger within your camp, from woodchopper to water drawer—” (Deuteronomy 29:9-10).
Thanks KA for the upticks. May God grant good health and prosperity to all America, Israel and the world.

  8. “Daas Torah wrote: yes according to you being concerned with elementary things like truth reality and law are red herrings because the only thing that matters is keeping trump as president” No. The only thing that matters is following Written and Oral Torah. See https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-trump-comeback-11599607037?mod=opinion_lead_pos1
“ It seems unlikely Mr. Trump can win the nationwide popular vote, so he will have to eke out another victory in the Electoral College. After the surprises of 2016, only a fool would say this can’t be done. But if Mr. Trump is going to do it, he will have to make the election about more than himself, or even his first-term record. He has to make the election a choice about two futures, rather than two men. This is not a novel insight. Mr. Trump’s strategists can see the polling and have reached the same conclusion. They staged the GOP convention to soften Mr. Trump’s polarizing image and especially to draw lines on policies. Taxes and the economy, education choice, China and foreign policy, urban unrest, opportunity for the least skilled and those without college degrees. The campaign’s ads are doing the same, and they will have to because the media won’t report on the policy differences.”
Today in the USA and in Israel it matters: taxes, the economy, education choice, China, foreign policy, urban unrest, opportunities and such. Trump is a red herring fallacy. I got the idea from John M. Clark, Knopf 1960 book p. 121: “...both employers and government have felt the power that resides in the growing millions of organized workers and in their methods of economic coercion, backed by special legal immunities; and they are reluctant to incur a real conflict. Perhaps the most hopeful sign is the disposition of both to argue their case before the public. True, the arguments used on both sides suggest a rather cynically low estimate of the public intelligence, a liberal use of red herrings; but this is characteristic of popular discussion in general. It is only more serious here in proportion as the issues are more serious.”
I did my PhD dissertation on John M. Clark. He had huge fights with orthodox economics his whole life, against both Keynesian and laissez-faire economics. The driving principle behind laissez-faire, a French term that translates as "leave alone" (literally, "let you do"), is that the less the government is involved in the economy, the better off business will be—and by extension, society as a whole. Laissez-faire economics are a key part of free market capitalism. Clark wrote an essay “Revolution in Economics: after Keynes What?” May 6, 1959.

  9. Today is the fast of Gedaliah.
“Johanan son of Kareah, and all the officers of the troops in the open country, came to Gedaliah at Mizpah and said to him, Do you know that King Baalis of Ammon has sent Ishmael son of Nethaniah to kill you? But Gedaliah son of Ahikam would not believe them. Johanan son of Kareah also said secretly to Gedaliah at Mizpah, Let me go and strike down Ishmael son of Nethaniah before anyone knows about it; otherwise he will kill you, and all the Judeans who have gathered about you will be dispersed, and the remnant of Judah will perish! But Gedaliah son of Ahikam answered Johanan son of Kareah, Do not do such a thing: what you are saying about Ishmael is not true! In the seventh month, Ishmael son of Nethaniah son of Elishama, who was of royal descent and one of the king’s commanders, came with ten men to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah; and they ate together there at Mizpah. Then Ishmael son of Nethaniah and the ten men who were with him arose and struck down Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan with the sword and killed him, because the king of Babylon had put him in charge of the land. Ishmael also killed all the Judeans who were with him—with Gedaliah in Mizpah—and the Chaldean soldiers who were stationed there.” (Jeremiah 40:13-41:3).
    Sad sad
    Nidah 61a
“One taught: That was the pit which Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had filled with slain bodies, as it is written “The cistern into which Ishmael threw all the corpses of the men he had killed in the affair of Gedaliah הכה ביד גדליהו was the one that King Asa had constructed on account of King Baasha of Israel. That was the one which Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled with corpses.—” (Jeremiah 41:9). But was it Gedaliah that killed them? Was it not in fact Ishmael that killed them [Why then was it stated, By the hand of Gedaliah]? But owing to the fact that he [Gedaliah] should have taken note of the advice of Johanan the son of Kareah [who told him that Simeon b. Nethaniah wished to kill him. V. Jer. XL, 13ff] and did not do so Scripture regards him as though he had killed them. Raba observed: As to slander, though one should not believe [lit., accept] it one should nevertheless take note of it”
Lesson: One must take note of bad reports even without accepting and without believing them. Oh, today I sent in a Petition to SCOTUS. I’m waiting for a docket number. I received in the mail NYS Ct of Appeals Mo. No. 2020-352 “ORDERED, that the motion is dismissed...”

That is an important lesson. Just reading goody goody books about Loshon hara and other extremist mussar books, leads to bloodshed, and Chazal rightly tell us.
