So Israel sits on the verge of war with Iran and this is what they come up with?
ReplyDeleteThe two go hand in hand.
ReplyDeleteHashem's help in success in battle, is contingent on Israel's level of kedusha.
Devarim 23:15
I support Torah sages. Torah thought:
ReplyDelete“I will turn Jerusalem into rubble, Into dens for jackals; And I will make the towns of Judah A desolation without inhabitants. What man is so wise That he understands this? To whom has the Lord’s mouth spoken, So that he can explain it: Why is the land in ruins, Laid waste like a wilderness, With none passing through? The Lord replied: Because they forsook the Teaching תורתי I had set before them. They did not obey Me and they did not follow it, but followed their own willful heart and followed the Baalim, as their fathers had taught them” (Jeremiah 9;10-13).
How can Jeremiah ask “What man is so wise That he understands this? To whom has the Lord’s mouth spoken, So that he can explain it: Why is the land in ruins, Laid waste like a wilderness, With none passing through?”
We have so many sources in the Bible on how we can prosper in the Land of Israel, e.g, “You shall appoint magistrates and officials for your tribes, in all the settlements that the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall govern the people with due justice. You shall not judge unfairly: you shall show no partiality; you shall not take bribes, for bribes blind the eyes of the discerning and upset the plea of the just. Justice, justice shall you pursue, that you may thrive and occupy the land that the Lord your God is giving you. (Deuteronomy 16:18-20).
I heard an answer: Torah is the start of prospering in the Land of Israel. Rashi on Leviticus 26:3 “That you should be laboring in Torah. Rashi on Leviticus 26:14 “But if you will not listen to me to be laboring in Torah to know the exposition of the written Torah by the Sages…” Then “I will establish My abode in your midst, and I will not spurn you. I will be ever present in your midst: I will be your God, and you shall be My people. (Leviticus 26:11-12).
God gave the Torah on Mount Sinai to the Jewish people. The Land of Israel is no longer in ruins. To prevent the Land of Israel falling again to ruins, we must labor in Torah and do God’s commandments.
The nevuah of Yirmiyahu may not be speaking to the current day , but to the first exile.
ReplyDeleteBoth the physical and the spiritual are necessary - the great Sages in Europe could not defend themselves from the Amalek by study alone.
Iran is not deterred by the thought of being outwitted by yeshiva bochrim, they are deterred by F15 planes and bombs, and other weapons.

“In the Book of Job, God answers Job’s complaints on injustice in the world by telling Job to use his strength to fight evil:
“Would you impugn My justice? Would you condemn Me that you may be right? Have you an arm like God’s? Can you thunder with a voice like His? Deck yourself now with grandeur and eminence; Clothe yourself in glory and majesty. Scatter wide your raging anger; See every proud man and bring him low. See every proud man and humble him, And bring them down where they stand. Bury them all in the earth; Hide their faces in obscurity. Then even I would praise you For the triumph your right hand won you.” (Job 40:7-14).”
The great Sage/prophet Job complains of injustice to him. God’s answer, as it were, is to use fighter planes and smart bombs. Of course. Now, Jared Kushner just arrived in Israel. He’s a Torah observant Jew. Is Jared Kushner the Messiah? Is Donald Trump a modern Cyrus the Great?
