Besides the disappointing discussion with Rabbi Manny Vinas I & II, I have had an exchange of emails with another rabbi who is actively involved with Anusim. He contacted me to complain about my critical attitude to Anusim on this blog. I asked him simply to explain the halachic basis of his activities. His response was that he had forty pages of justifications. I then asked to see his sources and this is his response.

Now let's do something about it before Christianity replaces Judaism as the "real Judaism".
ReplyDeleteDo not forget Tzipi Livni's outreach to Evangelicals when she was Minister of Tourism. She opened the door to missionaries in Israel and served them on a silver platter.
It was Livni who used Gov't funds to provide free Christmas trees in 2006 to Evangelical tourists.

I think that that is misstating the problem. There is little risk that Christianity will "replace" Judaism.
There is, however, a risk that these efforts will insinuate non-Jews into the genuine Jewish community, resulting in serious halachic problems over time.
"serious halachic problems"
ReplyDeleteare the process by which Christianity replaces Judaism.
Christianity was a Jewish sect 2000 years ago. In order to increase its popularity to the masses and appeal to non Jews (because not enough Jews were interested in it), halachic innovations (ie. serious halachic problems) from strict Rabbinic Judaism were made.
