  1. Brown's book, a work of fiction, is allegedly based on someone she knew. She was never abused.

  2. Steve,

The text stated, "which is based upon the story of a case of child sex abuse in Brooklyn's Chassidic community." Nowhere does it state that Ms. Brown was the victim.

    What is your point?

  3. That it is a work of fiction. With, supposedly, some parts of it "based" on a story she saw.

  4. Just for the Record, I read Hush, and I felt the book was just so fantastic becasue it did a great job describing the world from the view of a child who had wittnessed. Whether this is a work of fiction or not, it is just "so so so real." And I should know since I'm a survivor myself.

  5. I helped organize Judy Brown's appearance in Chicago. Obviously, I was there to hear her speak. I am not going to try to summarize her very moving speech because I oould not possibly do it justice.

You will just have to wait until the recording is posted on the Internet and you will be able to watch or listen to you her yourself.

  6. Steve,

I have listened to a number of accounts from survivors of molestation. The account in "Hush" rings true.

Here are links to recordings of survivor accounts:
