  1. As per the Steinsaltz-Center website, Steinsaltz only received, at best, four endorsements for his work on the Talmud, and Rav Moshe Feinstein is the ONLY rabbi from the Yeshiva world to have issued an "endorsement" to Steinsaltz.

This makes it extremely important to determine how much of Steinsaltz's work, if any, did RMF review, before writing his "endorsement"?

    1. It is important to realize that RMF ZL had a policy to give Haskamos to everyone with the idea that ppl will realize that his Haskamos don't have supreme value because he gives it to everyone. That being said, while not as good as arscroll in terms of giving over the rishonim al pi peshat, Steinzaltz is a great alternative for those to whom Artscroll is to advanced.

    2. Shh. You're saying the quiet part out loud, that RMF's "haskamos" don't really mean that much, given that they were dispensed quite liberally, without in-depth review of the work being endorsed.

So basically, as far as impressing yeshiva people, the Steinsaltz fan crowd doesn't have much to stand on, being that no other rabbi from the yeshiva world ever gave him a "haskama".
