Shocking Lessons U.S. Military Leaders Learned by Watching Putin's Invasion

For Washington, this display of Russian military weakness should be comforting in terms of Moscow's true military threat to Europe. At the same time though, it exposes the need for a different national security strategy, one that doesn't imagine Russia as a military equal, and one that doesn't push Vladimir Putin's back against a wall.

  1. None of this is new.
The Americans always knew that, should war break out between NATO and the Warsaw Pact, that the West would initially roll over the Soviets. They had better equipment and, more importantly, better moral. Only a handful of people west of the Brandenburg Gate wanted the USSR to arrive but almost everyone east of it was praying NATO would show up. The reason WW3 never happened was because NATO knew that the minute they started trouncing the Soviets, the nukes would get fired and the planet would fry.
And listen to Putin's rhetoric. Right on schedule he's also threatening nukes because he knows his army can't beat Ukraine in a fair fight, never mind the Americans.
I'm more worried about the Chinese.

  2. Fair fight?
Nothing is fair in love, war or halacha.
