Vice President Mike Pence's four years of faithful service to his boss, President Donald Trump, will culminate this week in a ceremonial act he's under increasing pressure to thwart.
Over the past several weeks, Trump has
become intensely interested in Pence's ceremonial role during the
certification of the Electoral College. He has raised the matter repeatedly with his vice president and has been "confused" as to why Pence can't overturn the results of the election on January 6, sources told CNN.
As
he was flying to Florida for his vacation last month, Trump retweeted a
call from one of his supporters for Pence to refuse to ratify the
Electoral College results on January 6 -- a prospect that has captured
his imagination even if it remains completely impossible.
It is incumbent on me to give a fuller picture of what is going on. Trump has thoroughly inflamed part of his base. Just go on Far Right social media and dip your toe in the water to test it.
ReplyDeleteIt's like how on a small scale memers of a cult convince themselves about how some aspect of reality is how what they say it is despite all indications otherwise.
Except here it's a cult of millions, and some actually seem to believe that Trump won and will find a way to legitimately remain President.
There are pictures online of people pouring into DC by land and by air to be part of historic protests and rallies, at least one of which Trump will appear in person at.
As the Congress declares Joe Biden the winner tomorrow, mayhem will erupt not only on the streets of DC but throughout the country wherever diehard Trump supporters gather to rally.
We should not fool ourselves that this is a one day storm. This refusal to accept the election results is just going to continue growing into a bigger and bigger frenzy over the coming year.
The press' spin on this is pathetic. Pence has openly stated "I can't do what he's asking me to. I don't have that power" but the headlines still read "Pence might go along with Trump's demand!"

My theory. Pharaoh is the king and ruler of ancient Egypt. Pharaoh has free choice. Yes, God punished Pharaoh for exercising his free choice. I’m listening to Cruz proposing a 10 day investigation of fraud in the Biden/Harris election victory. I heard POTUS Trump one hour speech. Bravo. Yes I love Trump and Netanyahu. The USA Senate and House has free choice to do a 10 day investigation of fraud or not.
I am on a group getting a lot of the video and stills of events in DC. The Capitol security was unprepared and retreated as they were overwhelmed. The "protesters" apparently made it all the way to one of the chambers with Congressmen. They broke the glass on the doors into the chamber.
ReplyDeleteOn other side were security with guns drawn. Apparently a woman, reported as Roberta Paulsen, made some move, perhaps she threw something in or stuck her hand in. I don't know. Basically I would guess she gave the security no choice but to shoot her, and she took a bullet. There is a report she has died.
Revolution.
Of course, you can toss out the word traitor. It's a matter of perspective. The British considered the uprising against the Crown as treason.

Monday I called the NYS Court of Appeals introducing myself as Professor Aranoff from Bnei Brak. The girl said she’ll transfer me to Rachel. Rachel told me you’ve been warned you may write letters but not to call here---hang up. I called SCOTUS. The girl said maybe in a week or so I’ll get scheduled for conference for 20-6525. In Parshaשמות things are so bad for the Jews: “Then Moses returned וישב משה to the Lord and said, O Lord, why did You bring harm למה הרעתה upon this people? Why did You send me? Ever since ומאז I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has dealt worse הרע with this people; and still You have not delivered Your people.” (Exodus 5:22-23)
That wasn't my point. My point was that. broadly speaking, Americans only accepted the break with England as long as the new government in what was to become the United States, did not become a version of monarchy.

Why is it ok for the Supreme Court to find the right to abortion and to same-sex marriage in the Constitution, but to counter that Trump can't find the power of the Vice President in there to control the electoral count?
People are tired of having immorality ramrodded into society through the schools, much of the media, the law, and businesses! Why do companies HAVE to have women on their boards?! What does that have to do with anything? It's enough already.
