insurgent in 2016, is most comfortable raging against the machine of
government, even when he is the one running the country. And while the
coronavirus is in every state in the union, it is heavily affecting
minority and low-income communities.
Trump will do as he knows. He know how to rail against "the system" so his being the highest level of that system won't change anything.
ReplyDeleteBut you've got to pity Joe Biden. He is essentially irrelevant right now. His entire campaign is going to be "I could've done it better than him". He won't have his big nomination convention and he won't get that post-convention bump. All eyes are on Trump.
Former VP Joe Biden has the poll numbers. What more does he need? I don't think President Trump will get a second term now. The economy is wrecked. The "gives" he gives are good, but not as good as the "gives" the Democrats will give.

The reluctance to close off and restrict foreign travel would have meant disaster and importation of many more cases, plus further spread getting to today. All the cases of today can be traced back to Chinese import cases on the west coast and Iranian and Italian imported cases in NY.
ReplyDeleteThe travel ban with China, while it didn't completely seal off all air travel, did MITIGATE the spread by decreasing air travel drastically. Likewise with the EU travel bans when their situations erupted.
If Trump is a xenophobe for readily employing the knee-jerk reaction of restricting travel with other nations over national security issues (which is what Biden called him in response to Trump restricting air travel between various countries including Africa, the day Trump put the china travel restriction in place), then a xenophobe is the best possible person you can have in office during the outbreak of a deadly virus pandemic.

But the conundrum is that the ventilators are still needed and the regular oxygen at some point is not enough to keep these patients breathing on their own. So although the intubation hasn't had good outcomes with a high percentage dying from it, some percentage DO survive this, and no one yet has determined a viable alternative to provide INSTEAD of the ventilator.
ReplyDeleteAll of this nuance is lost in the conspiracy mongering and cherry picking of information tidbits that berel engages in.
It is clear that we have not arrived at anywhere near an optimal treatment for severe cases of Covid19. We don't even have a way to predict which cases will evolve into the more severe manifestation and which will be more likely to remain moderate and resolve.
But none of that suggests doctors are purposely killing people nor attempting to fail at treating the disease for unexplained reasons.

do your research, he is an osteopath, so if you have backache, like i had, he can massage, stretch and manipulate various muscles and bones, and this gets better. He knows nothing about infectious disease.
I have been to various osteopaths, some of them are good for backache , but they are often deluded into thinking they know all about health and medicine, based on their rudimentary understanding of some very basic medical facts.
Would you go to a foot doctor to treat diabetes, or an optician to treat ingrowing toenails?
On this rare occasion, I'm going to try to defend berel. The cure is not simple. However, it may be possible to alleviate one of the symptoms, coughing.

there is a difference between symptom alleviation and "cure". Balm won't stop a cytokine storm, but it might help relieve the cough and even breathing difficulties.

Berel do you realize there were infectious disease doctors downplaying this virus as nothing more than the flu and telling people in the frum community not to change their lives in FEBRUARY? We all suffered losses because of that bad, terrible advice. And now most of them have realized their error.
That you can find a doctor somewhere in the world saying something, does not make that thing true. Why I would ever need to explain that to you is what I don't understand.
The fact that someone thinks they have a cure for covid (or for anything) does not mean they actually do possess a cure. That is not how medicine works. You can't speak it into existence.

The FDA has no problem accepting fancy herbal treatments, if they DEMONSTRATE safety and efficacy. If they do, they will be approved, just like any drug. Same standard no matter what type of product. It should be noted that most of the earliest pharmaceuticals were derived from plants, which means they classify as "herbal." Plants and dirt were the two places screened for medications when the pharmaceutical industry was born.

There are patients with low oxygen readings, but they are able to talk and are not severely I'll, buy are put on high pressure ventilators.
It's too early to say whether these ventilators are killing people. But some doctors have changed their approach.
