Can't make this up.
Convicted sex offender YW went to Israeli court and filed a restraining order against me. I need to (take a lawyer) and appear before a judge at 12 noon tomorrow.
I was told that Weinberg told a staff member in the Har Nof Community Center where the speech will held that he filed for restraining order to stop me from giving the child safety class Tuesday evening.
I'm here in Israel working on the launch of the da'ati Le'umi version of our safety book.
I can't comment on this because of the hearing, but I strongly feel that this entire matter desperately needs the disinfectant of sunlight. Please like and share this......

**** some random thoughts as I'm walking the streets of beautiful Jerusalem on way to my lawyer:
1) I really, really appreciate the well over 100 emails, calls and all the other tech-apps. I read all; sorry can't respond.
2) answer to, "How are you doin' Yankie?" Is great bh. Really great. And very, very determined.
3) most important note; (I'm being circumspect due to legal proceedings) you are all witnessing a very unusual event -- you are watching how a sex offender's mind really works. This never happens because their crimes are done in darkness and they all clam up after they are charged. (Think; did you ever hear a word from Weberman or observe anything he did??)
Now you are watching weinberg's "new math," how he calculates risk and reward, on and on (I can't write more).
Remember this for the rest of your life; and think of it when a community leader or friend tells you that a sex offender isn't a danger any more.
There is a great book about child safety for the frum family its called "Talking about Private Places". Yanky Horowitz worked hard to stop it from being sold in stores in the US. He took the author and publisher of the book to bais din there was a temporary injuction i(kul) placed on the book pending the outcome. The Bais Din ruled in favor of the publisher and the book has since then been flying off the shelves its a must for every Jewish home. One wonders why Yanky who claims to be a champion and defender for victims abuse would care if there is another book on the market. He should have embraced the competition and welcomed another book on child safety. Is it all about money and competition?
ReplyDeleteNO sympathy for Yankie who for years has been a "charedi basher" never missing an opportunity highlighting ills of the community non stop bashing the chinuch system in the US schools and yeshivos. He holds no official position of leadership and his followers are only on social media.
ReplyDeletedon't what the story with the book is but it is rather strange you insist on publicizing it without bothering to mention what Rabbi Horowitz claims were. Going to beis din itself is not a sign of wrong doing. Even losing in beis din doesn't prove any evil intent.
ReplyDeleteplease stop the nonsense. be a critici in itself is not a proof of wrong doing. Why are you obsessed with attacking him?
ReplyDeleteAs the blogger/moderator I think that you should do some intense research on this before blogging on the topic. Is YH in the right? Maybe he takes things too far (as Tomim Ti points out). Maybe YW is being unfairly attacked. Maybe YH is 100% right. Wgo knows? Why post this stuff from YH if it's just a drop in the bucket of the real story? If this is going to be the new battle let us know what is really going on instead of just reposting from YH.
ReplyDeleteDo you know yanky personally? or only from the image he projects of himself online?
ReplyDeletepersonally
ReplyDeleteI am very well aware of what the facts and issues are
ReplyDeleteThere does not need to be contradiction between being a child safety advocate and working to protect one's financial interests. Unless he is a self funded millionaire, YH might have merely be trying to ensure that the book he put out made back its costs....
ReplyDeleteI have my doubts.
ReplyDeleteof course you have your doubts.
ReplyDeleteAs I have noted previous - you obviously are not familiar with the facts or the halacha - and yet you insist on making public pronouncements in the name of halacha which are simply WRONG!
I have my doubts.
ReplyDeleteI have not made "public pronouncements in the name of Halacha". I have simply "publicly pronounced Halacha". Most recently YD 267:85, Rambam Rotzeach 1:12 (Ch"M 425:3), C"C Hilchos Lashon Hara 3:7 and 10:2, etc.
ReplyDeleteIf those Halachos are wrong the problem isn't me.
Agudah in the USA no longer associates themselves with Yanky Horowitz he did not speak at any Agudah functions in the last few years. More so, JCW known as Jewish community watch a organization on helping victims of child sexual abuse had a event in Monsey, NY Yanky Horowitz's home town, and he was not on the line up of speakers. JCW is a modern Orthodox organization where yanky has his followers and at their major Monsey event Horowitz was not there. He has moved to the left and mainstream yeshiva world no longer associate themselves with him.
ReplyDeletethese sources are obviously not wrong - you are just misapplying them
ReplyDeleteHow so?
ReplyDeletewhether he spoke or was there is suggestive but it is not proof of anything. Why are you obsessing over the matter?
ReplyDeleteIt is like trying to determine the nature of a manufacturing process by observing the smoke coming out the chimney.
Saying that the Aguda is distancing themselves from R' Horowitz is more of an indication of who the Aguda is, and what their agenda is than it is on R' Horowitz.
ReplyDeleteProof: Who within the Aguda is working on child safety? And I don't mean who are those who are working on preventing the extending the statute of limitations. Cause that seems to be the only "child-safety" work the Aguda is doing.
Agudah did not disassociate themselves with YH because of his child safety work. Yanky likes to attach his project yes with agudah while agudah has spun it off. Yanky has been a charedi apologist over the years and has pandered to the MO crowd. His chasidic garb makes he so beloved by the left because they dont expect him to preach their hashkafos and attack the system where he came from.
ReplyDeleteSorry but you are clueless of what goes on in the US.
ReplyDeleteObviously your R' Horowitz bashing is coming from a personal angle, and not from the truth.
ReplyDeleteProof 1: Your constantly calling him by a nickname, which shows your desire to disrespect the man.
Proof 2: Your taking bits and pieces and trying to string them together to arrive at a predetermined conclusion.
Let me tell you this. JCW has respect for the work of R' Horowitz, they are even advertising his speech tonight. Have a Look:

You haven't shown any proof but are claiming that your conclusions can be inferred. Sorry you conclusions don't obviously follow from your claims.
ReplyDeleteyou are simply spewing your hate for Rabbi Horowitz. either show some proof that he has done wrong or I will simply spam your comments
ReplyDeleteWell, why don't you enlighten us then? Unfairly attacked, huh?
ReplyDeleteA Level 3 offender moves to a different country, to an area FULL of children. And that country and that area happens to be our Torah 'family'.
You and Hirshman, whoever you are, should bury yourselves with YW. It is remarkable how abusers and their enablers have unlimited reservoirs of chutzpah. RDE is right: all that is being done here is making the entire world aware of how sick this YW (who I don't know) is.
A Rebbe publicly humiliated a child who is deaf in front of the whole class. He imitated his speech and mimicked the way he talks. The kid was all but 7 years old. To this day he is traumatized and feels the shame of that episode. He b"h got married and made a successful life for himself. Do you believe that rebbe should be involved in chinuch or any other aspect of child safety?
ReplyDeletesorry but your anecdotal anonymous comment isn't basis to posul a person. The person I know and his public persona is definitely a very sensitive and caring individual. He has been very successful in getting the message out. As I witnessed last night. If he is the monster you are trying to convince us he is - one would think that in the decades he has been a public figure there would be many such negative stories - but there aren't.
ReplyDeleteIf your message is that this public figure once got a student of his very upset - I bet most teachers/parent/friends/neighbors at some time in life have done the same. In fact I would bet that at least once in your life you have also succeeded in upsetting someone. And therefore we should disqualify everyone from ever speaking on bein adam l'chavero topics?!
Bottom line - you have a major ax to grind and your strong personal bias is not helpful. His track record answers your challenge. There are countless people he has helped from embarrassment and worse. You would rather that all the good that he has done and continues to do - be canceled because of the one incident you claimed happened?! Only someone driven by deep hatred could answer yes.
Reb Doniel, speak to the mechanchim rebbeim and others who have known him for years, do some research. You dont give others a pass when it comes to post bad news stories about frum people who reportedly committed crimes you dont give the benefit of the doubt , but in this case since YH fits your agenda on chid abuse you give him a free pass.
ReplyDeleteI will repeat - provide evidence that he is incompetent in teaching about child abuse! Provide me evidence that he has harmed people as a child abuse advocate! That is what I am dealing with.
ReplyDeleteThe issues you raise are not relevant - even if true and I don't have any evidence that they are true.
