$123M settlement in Del. child abuse case

St Louis Post-Dispatch  A judge has approved a $123 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of young children who were sexually abused by former Delaware pediatrician Earl Bradley.

New Castle County Superior Court Judge Joseph Slights III issued his ruling Monday after holding a hearing last week.

The settlement resolves claims against a southern Delaware hospital where Bradley had physician privileges, the Medical Society of Delaware, and five physicians accused by the plaintiffs of not reporting suspicions about Bradley to authorities.

  1. Rabbi Eidensohn,

I think this is an interesting article that you can put up on your blog:

    1. The case looks very complex - see the following

      http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/05/02/jesse-friedman-found-guilty-of-child-abuse-25-years-ago-says-hes-innocent/

which clearly states that there are those who still claim that Jesse abused them. The reporting in the Jewish Week seems to be written from the view of those who believe Jesse is innocent. I think at this point it is best left to the courts

    2. Well, it is still worthwhile putting up a new post so that a discussion can ensue about the various points of view regarding this case.

    3. That the court itself told the prosecutor to take a new look at the case to see if he is innocent, even though he totally completed his jail term already, clearly indicates very serious questions exist as to his possible innocence.
