Where JD Vance stands on Ukraine, Israel and China

In a speech delivered at the Quincy Institute in May, Vance addressed the contradiction between his conditional support for Ukraine — “ I think we should stop supporting the Ukrainian conflict,” he said — and unconditional support for Israel.

  1. Anyone care to explain how de-funding Ukraine is remotely a good idea?

    1. It's the question of how this war ends:
A Ukrainian victory is defined by them as taking back all their territory in the Don's and maybe even Crimea too. But Russia would see this as a masive humiliation and rather burn half of Europe than let that happen. This means massive funding and supplying the Ukrainians so they can push back the Russians is too risky.
Letting Russian reduce Ukraine to a rump state under Moscow's control is a threat to all the former Moscow Pact countries. They will never accept such an outcome and will supply Ukraine to keep it fighting although not winning.
Calling a truce now and letting Russia keep the Don's just encourages Putin to re-arm and re-invade to grab more territory in a few years.
So what's the answer? Permanent attrition war between the two?
