Helicopter carrying Iran’s president suffers ‘hard landing’

A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi suffered a “hard landing” on Sunday, Iranian state media reported, without elaborating. Some began urging the public to pray for Raisi and the others on board as rescue crews sped through a misty, rural forest where his helicopter was believed to be.

The likely crash comes as Iran under Raisi and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei launched an unprecedented drone-and-missile attack on Israel just last month and has enriched uranium closer than ever to weapons-grade levels. Meanwhile, Iran has faced years of mass protests against its Shiite theocracy over an ailing economy and women’s rights — making the moment that much more sensitive for Tehran and the future of the country as the Israel-Hamas war inflames the wider Middle East.

  1. First, politically this means very little. The ayatollahs control Iran, they will choose a replacement and there will be a token election to ratify their choice. If Israel really wants to do something, they need to wait until Khameini is in a helicopter.
Second, if it turns out these men are dead (IY"H), I want to know the Biden White House official response to it.

    1. I was wondering the same. Considering the Ayatollos controll Iran, Raisi will likely be replaced by an equal or bigger Rasha.

    3. Hashem is giving us an opportunity to beseech him. This can be a ויקם מלך חדש ויצעק בני ישראל because the new person is worse or because the new person is better.

    4. True. The interim president is apparently also a mass murderer with a hate-on for Israel. So this is actually that moment to beseech God.
