New evidence undermines the COVID lab-leak theory — but the press keeps pushing it

 https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2021-09-28/evidence-against-a-lab-leak-as-covid-source

When it comes to the pandemic, pseudoscience has outweighed real science at almost every turn. One of the best examples of that is the unsupported assertion that the virus causing COVID-19 escaped from a Chinese laboratory.

Despite mounting evidence that the virus reached humans through natural pathways — from infected animals such as bats — the lab-leak hypothesis recently jumped back into the news, thanks to CNN, the investigative news site the Intercept, and the Atlantic.

All treat the idea that the virus escaped from a lab credulously. They downplay or entirely ignore the latest scientific findings that support the theory that the virus’ origin can be found in the animal kingdom — the view accepted by a preponderance of experts in virology.

  1. Let's rephrase back to the 1930's

When it comes to the Soviet Union, pseudoreporting has outweighed real reporting at almost every turn. One of the best examples of that is the unsupported assertion that the Soviets run thousands of prison camps scattered across Siberia.
Despite mounting evidence that the Soviets are building a true paradise of workers, the gulag hypothesis recently jumped back into the news thanks to some disgruntled Russian immigrants.
All treat the idea that there's a gulag credulously. They downplay or entirely ignore the latest reporting that support the Soviet Union's tremendous progress in industry and agriculture, the view accepted by a preponderance of experts in the USSR.

And before you role your eyes, that actually did happen. So now it's happening again but because Trump said it was a lab leak, Trump Derangement Syndrome takes over and you have to prove the opposite.

how do you position something as a "conspiracy theory"?
Do you have the gold standard true version locked away in your vault, by which you judge what is a plausible or viable theory, and what is conspiracy or tumah?

  5. Has no new evidence simply claims evidence is being concealed by government

    not a conspiracy theory -
it is a bit like, b'moshul, the cse of the magic bullet that killed the Palestinian journalist. Israel has said it could be one side or the other, but that certain evidence, namely the bullet, has bene withheld. Such a statement is not comnspiracy theory - it is factual.

They arepoiting to evidence that makes it less and les likely to be a freak of nature.

  7. Nope!
They are saying they don't know what happened but the government is concealing evidence

  8. if you read the actual scientific paper, they are asking for the Government ot release more information for a a thorough investigation into the causes of the outbreak.

perhaps your view is that such statements are all "conspiracy theories" - but then you would be forced to accept everything that Putin says, and disputin' Putin would also fall into that category, according to your logic here.
