But Rabbi Auman’s petition expands the criticism to include more moderate members of the Modern Orthodox movement. Among the signatories are Rabbi Shmuel Goldin of Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood, N.J., a self-described “lefty” because of his leadership in Shvil Hazahav, which supports the Oslo Accords; Rabbi Simcha Krauss of the Young Israel of Hillcrest in Flushing, Queens, an advocate of women’s prayer groups; Rabbi Yosef Adler of Congregation Rinat Yisroel in Teaneck, N.J.; and Rabbi Jonathan Rosenblatt of the Riverdale Jewish Center in the Bronx.
Look what happened to Simcha Krauss!

ReplyDeletethe correctness of halakhah. In his opinion,
ReplyDeletehalakhic literature is rated by the number of times
it is quoted by other poseqim4. Hence the fact that
the position taken by Rav Weinberg is only rarely
quoted is evidence of its poor quality and its
insubstantiality, as though the world of halakhah
runs on the basis of a superficial rating system, like
that used in the world of television.

R Broyde was later caught making false references to hsi own work, in order to up the value, and his own standing as a serious scholar.
What?
ReplyDeletehe was one of the critics of the Rackman court, but with age, he has reached the same conclusion, and set up his own version .
ReplyDeletei still dont understand your claim that halacha is frozen in recent times.
ReplyDeleteRackman, yes.
ReplyDeleteWhat's trooper got to do with anything? He was a musmach of Rav Shach and Rav zolti ztl.
Tropper innovated in the area of encouraging conversion
ReplyDeletehe was widely accepted by Gedolim of the day, including Rav Elyashiv, and many others who backed the EJF project , prior to his exposure as a menuval.
ReplyDeleteThey backed one version - as can be seen by the fact that Rav Reyven Feinstein was apparently his supporter and yet in a recording I posted he stated such an approach was unacceptable
ReplyDeleteWhose voice was recorded - r Feinstein or rav Elyashiv?
ReplyDeleteThe fact being - prior to his shaming _ there was no opposition to him except for Rav Shternbuch shlita.
So the "universal giur" was backed, but not kiruv/conversion.
ReplyDeleteEjf advertised in J observer, saying they do kiruv conversion for intermarriage, claiming backing from poskei hador.
American Jews are mainly reform intermarriage who know nothing about Torah. Holy rabbis in Jerusalem and bnei brak can't quite grasp how bad the situation is .
It was Rav Reuven. You failed to mention my opposition!
