Medrash Tehilim (83) The righteous say to the Lord, "What will You do?" They say to Him, "Arise," and He rises, as it says, "Arise, O Lord." They say to Him, "Do not sleep," and He awakens, as it says, "Rouse Yourself! Why do You sleep, O Lord?" And He awakens, as it says, "Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep." They say to Him, "Be like one who is silent," and He listens, as it says, "Who among you will listen to this? Will listen and heed in the time to come?"

ReplyDeleteThere's an old philosophical problem raised against the argument that everything has a cause, as a proof of G_d existing.
ReplyDeleteThey would ask, if so, who created G-d?
So we now have an answer. The tzaddikim must have done it!
One midrash will contradict another. What happened to the iron wall between us and Him blocking out all our prayers?
ReplyDeleteOr are you implying that the righteous did not call out to God during the Holocaust to save us?
There's an answer I heard from the chassidim to that one.
DeleteThere are two types of strength. Gevurah is strength to control our own desires, so when tzaddikim don't get what they want. It's simply because they exercised gevurah!
