The Gaza aid crunch is starting to abate, as local prices fall. Why are Gazans paying for aid at all? Well, the United Nations says 87% of the aid trucks that it and its partners have tried to deliver since May 19 have been “intercepted” by mobs or “armed actors.” Much of the food ends up sold at market, with Hamas taking a cut. The U.N. rejects Israeli security escorts.
The U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which gives free aid to Gazans at large distribution sites, has been shunned by the established aid groups. This has hindered GHF efforts to scale up—the best way to shrink the crowds at each site. For now, large masses must trek past Israel Defense Forces lines to reach these sites, while Hamas instigates stampedes. Much hunger in Gaza has been concentrated in the north, where there are no GHF sites.

ReplyDeleteWhat kind of state would Palestine be? Well it would be like Gaza. For the first little bit, the PLO would run it. Then, under international assistance, they would have elections that Hamas would win. What, the world says Hamas must disarm and can't be a political force? They won't enforce it and when Hamas wins, they'll say "Oh well, I guess we have to accept it."
Shortly after, Palestine will become an Islamist state. Women will be forced into niqabs and burkas. Gays and the rest of that group will be killed when discovered. People who protest this will be beaten and murdered. The billions in foreign aid the rest of the world will lavish on this new gem of a state will be sent to Iran for weapons and equipment to build tunnels and fortresses. Then the attacks on Israel will start which Israel will respond to forcefully. Except now they'll be condemned for attacked an "innocent" neighbour. They will still defend themselves. There will be much suffering on the Arab side of the border.
People who want Palestine hate the so-called Palestinians.
