Starting Next Month: Increased enforcement campaign against haredi draft dodgers

 https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/411388

Draft notices - By the end of July 2025, about 54,000 notices were sent to all candidates for military service up to age 16.5. Additionally, those with deferred service will be required to appear in order to enlist them.

Increased Enforcement - Starting from next month, there will be increased and equitable enforcement against draft evaders, including shortening the time taken to declare someone a draft evader and issue an arrest warrant, from about two months to about one and a half months, and in the next stage to about four months from the first draft notice.

Border Inspections - IDF updated on increased enforcement in cooperation with the Population Authority, police, and border crossing staff. Draft evaders caught at the border will be arrested for recruitment.

Proactive Enforcement and Intelligence Operations - Frequent proactive operations are expected, aiming to improve the handling of deserters and draft evaders. The IDF has announced plans for raids, checkpoints, and arrests in areas with high rates of draft evasion.

  1. If i had 10 shares in Apple or Microsoft for every time I've seen a headline like this, I'd be able to retire to a nice mansion in Kfar Shmaryahu.
Enforcement? Where are you going to imprison 54 000 Chareidi boys? Are you going to take away the licences of the Chareidi doctors who will start churning out fake "He's too sick to serve" notes? Seriously, what will arresting them, changing them into a uniform and then dumping them on a base accomplish? What IDF commander wants a bunch of passive-aggresive semi-literate shlubs to train?
It would be simpler to announce that anyone, secular or religious, who does not serve, gets cut off from all state resources. No driver licence, no health coverage, no welfare payments, no housing assistance and no funding for the yeshiva he says he learns in every day. Simpler and also effective.

    1. They don't have to be frontline kravi soldiers. They can work as cooks, logistics, warehouse, engineers, computer programming, or even flying drones from an underground bunker.

    2. Except Tzahal already has plenty of those. What Tzahal needs is boots on the ground so the reservists can finally go home and resume their lives. There is no way around that.

    3. 'War on Torah': Ultra-Orthodox leaders blast Haredi draft crackdown
      - Moshe certainly didn't use that line. He was praying all day and all night for the soldiers to win.

    4. they will need training, and not all yeshiva kids will be fit to be frontline soldiers.
It's unfortunate, but everyone else has to fight.
A few years ago, one very learned commenter was arguing that Israel has too many soldiers, doesn't need more, etc etc. I don' think that is true or ever has been. It is the mistake of interpreting a situation when there wasn't a war, for for when there actually is one.

    5. Some brief questions to anti enlistment lamdanim.
      A) we are told not to rely on miracles.
      B) if everyone was learning would that reduce the Islamists taaveh for our blood?
      C) Rambam said that the bayit sheini was lost because we didn't develop our military well enough and relied on astrology instead. What has changed?
