According to Rav Yakov the reason why the Jews readily accepted the negative evaluation of the meraglim was because they didn't want to fight in war.
Emes L’Yakov (14:29) As punishment all those older than 20 will die in the desert. Bava Basra (121b) the punishment did not apply to those less than 20 or more than 60. It is clear that those less than 20 should not be punished as they were below the age of punishment even from Heaven. But why should those older than 60 also not be punished? The answer seems to be that only those who were to fight in the battles to conquer Israel were scared and thus accepted the negative report of the spies. Those older than 60 were no longer in the army and thus had no reason to believe the spies and thus didn’t sin
Golden calf was just as bad
ReplyDeleteLike the Agudah, Satmar and the rest, they were happy in Golus and didn't want God's gift.
ReplyDeleteWow. I'm not sure if you're actually being truthful about your feelings or if you are just trolling. What I do know is that no Jews should ever say anything that nice about another Jew because Hashem requires 2 eidim snd the Satan is always saying not nice things about Yidden. So when a Jew says something not nice, it joins with the Satan to form eidus.
DeleteLuckily the Torah and Chazal give us simanim as to how yiu can recognize a Yid: rachmonim baishonim and gomlei chasodim. Clearly GI is none of these so he isn't sure Jewish. Phew.
Rachmanim - not met many , in fact I'm accustomed to those who are malbin panim .
DeleteGomlei chasadim - again, there's a kind of forced gemach which is rote and robotic. Very few have kindness internalised.
Chas v'shalom. Didn't you learn anything from the last few weeks parshios? Why not just stop being malshin entire groups of Klal Yisroel, or even thr entire Klal? You need to learn Chofetz Chaim. It doesn't matter if you are posting under some pen name or a hidden name
DeleteAfter Moshiach comes, people will look back and shake their heads.
DeleteWe prayed for 1800 years for God to allow us to return to Israel. Every attempt we made, including rebuilding the Temple (yes, they tried) failed. Even those attempts at mass aliyah by the students of the Gr"a and Besht wound up accomplishing nothing to rebuild the land, only increasing the number of people living there in poverty.
And then suddenly around 1880 everything changed. People returned and the land responded to them. Settlements sprung up. The Ottomans weakened and were overthrown by Britain which initially promised to facilitate the rebirth of Israel. Despite their perfidy, in 1948 a Jew stood up in Tel Aviv and said "Israel is back" and it was, even though 6 Arab armies tried their darndest to prevent it.
Miracle after miracle since then. The population has grown. More Torah is studied there than anywhere anytime in history. People walking around speaking the language of our ancestors.
And the Agudah's response? Meh. Nothing special. Couldn't have been anything to do with God. Satmar? Sinners! Ma'aseh Satan!
People will look back and said that they were the gilgulim of the meraglim, content to keep Golus going until God gave them the redemption they wanted.
Not malshining groups, just a few individuals.
DeleteAnd cc can be misinterpreted. If there's a toeles, it's not l'h.
Anyhow, everyone can improve. You are confusing behaviour with position or title.
Btw Bill am, further to your analysis, there's an opposite Gemara, that says you have to be as black as a raven to your children in order to be a Talmid chacjam. That is to bury any rachmanus you may have had.
DeleteI guess to some it comes real easy.
