  1. Trump competes in an open election and wins.
The winner gets certain powers. Trump uses them.
    Left: That's against democracy!

    2. So consolidating all power in the executive branch through democratic means is ok even though it destroys democracy by eliminating all balance of power?!

    3. 1) There's no consolidation. The US has a Constitution and it cannot be overridden. However, the Constitution does allow for one party to control all three branches if the democratic process turns that way.
      2) Yes, that's always been the weakness of a true democracy. There is always the chance that a party promising to turn the country into a dictatorship will win the election and fulfill its promise. It's one of the risks one takes in maintain the democracy in the first place.
