Hostage killings and new demands cast doubt in White House that Hamas wants a deal

Biden and his top advisers were shocked after Hamas killed six hostages, among them U.S. citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin, and have started to rethink the way forward in the negotiations over the deal.

  1. So for months, Biden's team has given us a consistent story - there's a deal to be made, only Bibi is being overly demanding and intransigent so it's hit fault there's no deal.
Oh wait, it turns out that it's the terrorists who have been the problem all along? That's a problem for the narrative.

  2. Your comment is unwarranted and factually incorrect. For months Biden has put the blame on Hamas. Biden stated explicitly and publicly that Israel had accepted the deal and the ball was in Hama's court. Blinken publicly stated the same. John Kirby has been unwavering on where the blame belongs. Netanyahu spent time during his press conference highlighting the very public statements of US officials on this matter.

    2. How does Biden's terse answer translate into your claim?

    3. "Netanyahu could be doing more." Sure, it's Hamas making unreasonable demands and walking away from every generous ceasefire agreement so it must be Bibi holding things back

    4. It is a widely held belief - but that doesn't support your claim about Biden!

    5. Again, check the link. It's a direct quote from Biden.

    6. Biden said Netanyahu could be doing more and that could be true. Netanyahu has received much criticism from the Israeli security establishment but you said that for months Biden has given a consistent story that only Bibi is being overly demanding. That is a one hundred percent blatant falsehood. Bibi himself quoted multiple statements from the administration that put the pressure and blame on Hamas.

    7. The only thing Bibi could be doing more of right now is smashing Hezbollah.

    8. That is an opinion that is subject to debate and it is not relevant to the claim made previously which is the topic of this thread namely that "Biden's team has given us a consistent story - there's a deal to be made, ONLY Bibi is being overly demanding and intransigent" which is not factually correct.
