DeleteThat's exactly it. Seventy years ago the Dem's, despite betraying the Jews of Europe during the War, were seen as the more pro-Jewish party. Sadly that's because the Jewish community was tilting socialist at the time and the Dem's were on that side of the spectrum.
DeleteThere were restricted clubs and quotas for Jews allowed in Universities and professions at that point. I don't know who ended this, but they still had segregation for blacks as well.
