Despite Freud’s initial willingness to entertain the idea of religious feeling, here he takes a more hostile attitude towards exactly that religious belief. Freud admits to not understanding how it is that intelligent, rational, indeed “scientific” people are religious. Thus Freud admits to seeing religion and scientific objectivity as, effectively, opposites.

  1. There is no reason for conflict unless one wants there to be. Science explains how, religion explains why

    1. The conflict is that science pretends it only considers that which can be objectively sensed while religion is ontological.

    2. If G_d forbid, one needs medical treatment, one finds the best doctor in the field. Then ask a Rav or tzaddik to pray for you. We then thank G-d when He heals us. If we are really frum, we do teshuva for the sins that brought the illness.
