"We had to put Israeli democracy back on an equal footing with other democracies. The essence of democracy is the balance between the will of the majority and the rights of the minority. This balance has been violated over the last 20 years, because we have the most activist court on the planet," Netanyahu said.
Striking down reasonableness restores the Court to its pre-1993 powers which no one was protesting at the time. Striking down the striking down of reasonableness exposes the Court as a bunch of self-interested wanna-be dictators unwilling to give up their control over the country.
ReplyDeleteFor every action, there is a reaction. The Court, instead of using wisdom and restraint when it came to its Barak-invented powers, used them indiscriminately as if to announce to everyone "We are the real rulers of the country!" ANd now comes the backlash and they ask "But what did we do?"
