Court records show support for officer Priel Klimi, 33, sentenced last week; rabbi casts doubt on his guilt, saying he’d managed to withstand ‘greater temptations’
"While denying the allegations at first, Klimi later claimed that the sexual relationship with his victim was consensual after DNA samples matched the evidence on the scene."
deny, deny, deny, then be caught in a lie, so make up another story...
why do rabbis have this easygoing view on arayos, when it is one of their own community? This is a case of paying lip service when they condemn sexuality in their sermons, but see little problem when the most severe aveiros are committed by their own little fellows.
Note - not just attacking "hareidim" - Druckman tried pulling off the same dirt in a number of cases in DL yeshivot.
“We’re all human’” First temple famous for yezer hara for women, power, and money---which lead to open 3 sins adultery, murder and avodah zara. The first temple famous for confident and proud Jews fear who feared no one. Sins adultery, murder and avodah zara all involve one with the other. They felt nothing would happen to them despite Isaiah and Jeremiah. The Jewish kings and Jewish elite were wicked and living well. The temptations were too great for them.
Second temple famous for Roman rule with Jews lived in fear for their lives and prayed and studied Torah a lot. They did little sins adultery, murder and avodah zara. Yes they had baseless hatreds, politics on how to deal with the evil Romans etc.
I quote Yoma 9b: “R. Johanan and R. Eleazar both say: The former ones whose iniquity was revealed [Who did not hide their misdeeds (Rashi)] had their end [i.e., the end of their captivity. Jer. XXIX, 10: For thus saith the Lord: After seventy years are accomplished in Babylon, I will remember you and perform My good word to you, in causing you to return to this place] revealed, the latter ones whose iniquity was not revealed have their end still unrevealed. R. Johanan said: The fingernail of the earlier generations [The earlier generations are, of course, those of the first Temple, the later ones Israel since the second destruction.] is better than the whole [lit. , the belly] body of the later generations. Said Resh Lakish to him: On the contrary, the latter generations are better [Or better off. There is a slight shift in the argument. R. Johanan had referred to their value, Resh Lakish to their political and moral condition.], although they are oppressed by the governments, they are occupying themselves with the Torah. He [R. Johanan] replied: The Sanctuary will prove [my point] for it came back to the former generations, but not to the latter ones. The question was put to R. Eleazar: Were the earlier generations better, or the later ones? He answered: Look upon the Sanctuary! Some say he answered: The Sanctuary is your witness [in this matter]. [It came back to them after the first destruction, it has not come back to us as yet. There is only a slight difference in Hebrew between the two versions עיניכם and עידיכם.]”
I say we’re better off studying Torah and we should not wade into politics. The second temple Jews waded too much into politics. Follow KA, Garnel, IR?
No. Rabbis are very strict on arayos. While I was at Yeshiva University we’d talk of how nice to find an old woman who can’t get pregnant. We had tremendous yezer hara. No to mamzerm and no to abortions. What to do? Find an old woman.
“12Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 13Thou shalt not murder. Thou shalt not commit adultery.Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 14Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.” (Exodus 20:12-14).
We would not do any of the 10 Commandment sins against our fellow man if not for the yezer hara. The sin of the Golden Calf was really the sexy girls there. Pinchas killed Zimri and Cozbi while they had sex.
Take stealing. If you believe that God determines your wealth and possessions, why would you scheme to steal from your neighbor? You’re not happy with what God allotted you---pray to God, don’t steal from your neighbor. I pray to God to get my pension freed. Yes my NYS Court of Appeals motion 460 June 27, 2022 is still undecided. You can see on the court's web site.

Wearing a "Yechi " kippa certainly will give him an image of religiosity.

Wow
ReplyDeleteIn those days, a) you had proper gedolim like rabbi rackman and rav soloveitchik
B) people, at least rabbonim, still had shame.
Now, The Shanda is now ubiquitous, I cannot even go into details.
