Jared Kushner: If Trump acted like a 'normal person' he probably wouldn't have been president

JARED KUSHNER: I think that people are always speculating on what Trump is like, and I always say the truth is hiding in plain sight. But what I wanted people to say, and another criticism people give of him is they'll say: OK, I love his policies, but I wish he would act like a normal person. I always say if he acted like a normal person, he probably, A, wouldn't have been president. And I think that he probably wouldn't have been as successful as a president if he was.

  1. That is correct - if he was like a normal person, he also wouldn't have reached his financial success in his business career.
If Einstein was a normal person, he wouldn't have been such a great scientist; and lehavdil if Rav Moshe Feinstein ztl was a normal person, he may not have written so many teshuvos.
If Leonardo Da Vinci was normal, he would not have painted so many masterpieces.

  2. So are you normal? You are saying normalcy is an indication of mediocrity

  3. Perhaps my example should be Bilaam. He was not normal, had potential to be great, but choice of being good or bad.

  4. You are using the word normal in two contradictory ways

  5. No, if China hadn't released the Kung Flu virus, he would be President.

  6. I see your point - actually, just in a different way from the article

  7. normal isn't mediocrity, but normal traits, for example intelligence, independence , etc.
rare people like Einstein may have eccentric traits. Highly powered business people have an energy and drive of a bull, rather than normal energy levels.

  8. you can claim that his conditional prediction is false, but that in itself does not make him a navi sheker.

  9. Consider: US economy was booming, unemployment was at less than 3%, China was facing economic competition for the first time, Trump had achieved peace in the Middle East and the Democrats had no one - no one - that could compete with him.
All that changed when the virus forced the shutdown of the US economy and the "We can't be too careful" crowd continued to wreak economic havok and Trump responded with increasingly erratic responses. Had the virus not come out, Trump would easily have won in 2020.

  10. Yes, normal means mediocre. It means being average. It means never standing out. It means never taking risks.

  11. a lot of things would have happened differently
No guarantee Trump would have acted in a non-erratic manner even without the Covid-wuhan 19
