FBI Sought Documents Trump Hoarded for Years, Including about Russiagate

The two U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the situation tell Newsweek that while some of the intelligence documents might have dealt with nuclear weapons, that was not the main focus. "Donald Trump kept documents that interested him," one of those officials says, "sometimes Iranian or North Korean nukes, sometimes Ukraine or Russia, some foreign leaders." It wasn't the subject matter per se that was of interest to Justice as it was fear that Trump might "weaponize" the information, including for personal gain, the official says.

"Trump was particularly interested in matters related to the Russia hoax and the wrong-doings of the deep state," one former Trump official tells Newsweek. "I think he felt, and I agree, that these are facts that the American people need to know." The official says Trump may have been planning to use them as part of a 2024 run for the presidency.

The high-level U.S. government officials explain that it was not necessarily the classification level of the documents nor even their subject matter that investigators were focused on.

  4. The problem is that it is too little.

Let's say that Donald Trump is guilty of mishandling government documents.

The Left has been accusing him of colluding with Russia to steal the election, of using military aid to further his re-election, of fomenting an insurrection, etc. And nothing ever led to his being removed from office. Frustrating!

So now to indict him on document mishandling is anti-climactic. It seems petty. The article acknowledges as much. "The official, who is confident that the search was legally valid, questions whether it was the smartest move."

It's like callimg a suspect in for questioning at the police station for hours about a murder that involved kidnaping, torture, and robbery, and the suspect has perfect alibis.

After the interrogation, the suspect crosses the street from the police station to go to the library.

The police grab him. "Gotcha!!! You jaywalker...you'll pay for this with a hefty $50 fine. What's in the bag? An overdue library book?! Your troubles are just beginning, buddy!"

The lip-smacking is a bit much for the public.

  6. So you are so saying - no big deal to violate espionage act since it is like jay walking - which is obviously why Trump increased the penalty from one to five years. But of course it was never meant to apply to the invincible Trumjp.
it is only a crime if your name is Clinton or
    Obama

  8. I don't know what laws Donald Trump may or may not have violated by holding on to these papers. But there is nothing in article about his passing any of them on to any foreign power, or any foreign power getting ahold of any of these documents. So it seems that whatever he is guilty of pales in comparison to other stuff he's been accused nof like overthrowing the government and stealing elections.

  11. I guess you only read Fox news so you have no awareness of what the Espionage Act is or why there are classified documents or even why Trump wanted to lockup Hillary?

  12. The article posted here is by Newsweek. Not Fox. I went through it. Nowhere is there anything but speculation. Did I miss something?

Or how to solve a dilemma of how to know someone is lying at you?
