When Biden first assumed office, he immediately issued a temporary ban on new drilling permits, pending a review of how they should be evaluated. Numerous oil companies and states sued the government; a federal judge in Louisiana agreed with states that they would suffer significant damage from the pause in permitting, and overturned the ban.

    Use less oil to reduce carbon! Okay, let's increase natural gas and nuclear power.
    No, no nuclear power! No natural gas! But use less oil to reduce carbon.
    Okay, we can't have more nuclear and gas, we're going to use coal and oil.
    Just ask the Germans what happens when you try to use solar and wind.

  2. But now we are using coal again. Better black (coal, carbon) than red (Russian or Venezuelan oil).

  3. Up here it's about pipelines. No pipelines! We'd rather transport the oil by train (lots of diesel) or importing it from Arabia (tankers using carbon-based fuels and at risk of spilling in the ocean) than pipelines! it's idiocy.
